Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management or related field.
• 2–4 years of experience in construction project management or contracts management.
• Strong knowledge of construction practices and contractual procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, coordinating and executing construction projects from inception to completion.
• Support schedules, budgets and resource allocation planning.
• Monitor progress and identify delays impacting delivery timelines.
• Coordinate with contractors, consultants, suppliers and stakeholders.
• Assist in managing project documentation including contracts and variations.
• Track contract compliance with terms and conditions.

We are seeking an Assistant Project Manager to join SHAHDANA JTL ENGINEERING SDN. BHD. (BATU GAJAH). This is a full-time position based in Kuala Lumpur. As an Assistant Project Manager, you will play a crucial role in supporting the delivery of construction projects, working closely with senior project management and contract management teams. This position is fundamental to ensuring projects are executed on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards. You will be instrumental in liaising between various stakeholders, managing project documentation, and ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Assisting in the planning, coordination and execution of construction projects from inception through to completion
• Supporting the preparation and maintenance of project schedules, budgets and resource allocation plans
• Monitoring project progress and identifying potential delays or issues that may impact delivery timelines
• Coordinating with contractors, consultants, suppliers and other project stakeholders to ensure effective communication and collaboration
• Assisting in the management of project documentation, including contracts, purchase orders, variation orders and correspondence
• Tracking and reporting on contract compliance, ensuring adherence to contractual terms and conditions
• Supporting the preparation of project reports, progress updates and presentations for management and clients
• Assisting in risk identification and mitigation strategies to minimise project disruptions
• Helping to coordinate site inspections, meetings and walkthroughs with relevant parties
• Supporting the management of project deliverables, including quality assurance and handover documentation

What we're looking for

• A diploma or bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management or a related discipline
• 2-4 years of experience in construction project management, contracts management or a related field
• Strong knowledge of construction practices, contractual procedures and project management methodologies
• Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
• Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English; proficiency in other languages is advantageous
• Attention to detail with an ability to identify discrepancies and ensure accuracy in documentation
• Problem-solving capabilities and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
• Knowledge of Malaysian construction regulations, standards and building codes is beneficial
• A proactive approach to professional development and willingness to learn new skills
