A well-established organisation is seeking an experienced and proactive Assistant Manager, Facilities to support the effective management, maintenance and operation of its buildings, facilities, infrastructure and related services. Reporting to the Manager, Facilities, the successful candidate will support day-to-day building maintenance and facilities operations, coordinate contractors and service providers, monitor preventive and corrective maintenance, support safety and statutory compliance, and assist with facilities improvement works. The role requires a hands‑on facilities professional who can manage multiple operational priorities while maintaining high standards of safety, service quality, cost‑effectiveness, and asset condition.
Key responsibilities
Oversee daily maintenance and upkeep of buildings, facilities, infrastructure and common areas.
Plan and monitor preventive and corrective maintenance programmes.
Coordinate repairs and rectification works with minimal disruption to operations.
Monitor building services including mechanical and electrical systems, plumbing, air‑conditioning, fire protection systems and utilities.
Conduct regular inspections to identify defects, maintenance requirements and safety concerns.
Manage contractors and service providers for maintenance, cleaning, landscaping, security, pest control and other facilities‑related services.
Monitor contractor performance, work schedules, service quality and completion of works.
Maintain proper maintenance, service, inspection, licence and compliance records.
Support safety, security and emergency preparedness arrangements.
Monitor statutory licences, certificates, inspections and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
Minimum Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Facilities Management, Building Management, Engineering, Property Management, Construction Management or a related discipline.
Minimum 5-8 years of relevant working experience in facilities, building, property or maintenance management, preferably with supervisory experience.
Experience managing contractors, vendors and outsourced service providers.
Good knowledge of building maintenance, mechanical and electrical systems and general facilities operations.
Familiarity with statutory compliance, fire safety and workplace safety requirements.
Strong leadership, communication, planning and problem‑solving skills.
Proactive, organised and able to manage multiple priorities.
Able to work independently and respond effectively to operational emergencies.
Good command of written and spoken English and Bahasa Malaysia.
