Smartlink Consulting Sdn. Bhd. in Johor Bahru is seeking a hands-on Assistant Finance Manager to support the Finance Manager in overseeing finance operations, HR administration and daily office matters.
You will own the full set of accounts, ensure timely financial reporting, payroll processing and liaise with external service providers. The role requires strong internal controls, mentoring junior staff, and implementing process improvements and ERP enhancements.
We are seeking a hands-on Assistant Finance Manager to support the Finance Manager in overseeing Smartlink's finance operations, HR administration and daily office matters. This role combines independent ownership of the Company's full set of accounts with responsibility for timely financial reporting, payroll administration, and coordination of tax, audit and statutory compliance matters with external service providers.
The successful candidate will help strengthen internal controls, review client accounting work and coach junior team members, while supporting process improvements and system implementation. The role also requires practical HR experience, sound judgement in handling employee matters, and effective communication between management and staff. You will monitor changes in applicable Malaysian accounting standards and support their implementation within the Company.
Key responsibilities
Independently manage the full set of accounts for Smartlink, including day-to-day accounting operations, month-end and year-end closing, account reconciliations, SST submissions, assist tax agent/cosec on corporate tax compliance and statutory filings, including CP204, Form C, SSM Annual Return and financial statement lodgments, and preparation of supporting schedules to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
Handle banking-related matters, including bank submissions, payment documentation, bank reconciliations, and other banking administrative requirements.
Liaise with tax agents, company secretaries, external auditors, banks, and other relevant external parties on accounting, tax, statutory, audit, and corporate matters.
Manage day-to-day HR and payroll administration, including monthly payroll processing, employee records, employment documentation, leave and attendance records, onboarding and offboarding, and related HR paperwork.
Handle statutory HR and payroll requirements including EPF/KWSP, SOCSO/PERKESO, EIS/SIP, PCB/MTD, EA Forms, Form E, employee commencement and cessation notifications, and maintenance of relevant statutory records.
Manage day-to-day office administration and general corporate matters, coordinate with relevant service providers, and ensure smooth daily office operations.
Review and post transactions prepared for client accounts, ensure accuracy and appropriate accounting treatment, and provide guidance and coaching to junior team members where necessary.
Support process improvement, internal control enhancement, ERP/system implementation, system migration, and workflow improvement initiatives.
Keep abreast of changes in applicable Malaysian accounting standards and regulatory requirements, assess their impact on the Company, and implement necessary changes where applicable.
Maintain accurate system master data and user information, assist with user setup and access maintenance, and support ongoing system administration requirements related to finance operations.
About you
Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
A professional qualification such as ACCA, CPA, ICAEW, CIMA, or equivalent is highly advantageous.
At least 3 years of relevant accounting experience, including independently managing full sets of accounts for Malaysian companies, preparing financial reports and analysis, and handling statutory submissions.
Hands‑on experience in Malaysian HR and payroll administration, including payroll processing, statutory contributions and submissions, employee records, onboarding and offboarding, and leave and attendance management.
Proven experience in leading, supervising, or mentoring a small finance or accounting team.
Strong knowledge of applicable Malaysian financial reporting standards and statutory requirements.
Excellent analytical, critical‑thinking, and problem‑solving skills, with a continuous improvement mindset.
Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across all organisational levels.
Proficiency in spoken and written‑Mandarin is required to liaise effectively with Mandarin‑speaking stakeholders.
Experience liaising with stakeholders in China or working with Chinese companies is an added advantage.
