Job summary

Le Magnifique Sdn Bhd invites applications for an Assistant Engineer to join our Civil/Structural team in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. This full-time role offers exposure to infrastructure projects and opportunities to develop engineering expertise alongside senior engineers.

You will assist in design, planning and execution, ensure safety and quality, liaise with contractors, and contribute to documentation and timely project delivery.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Knowledge of structural design principles and building codes relevant to Malaysia.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, STAAD Pro or similar tools.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to read drawings.
• Excellent communication and teamwork with multidisciplinary groups.
• Familiarity with project management and site supervision.
• Experience in civil/structural projects preferred (internships or entry-level).

Responsibilities

• Assist in design and development of civil and structural projects; prepare drawings, calculations, specs.
• Conduct site inspections and prepare progress and compliance reports.
• Support preparation of proposals, tender documents and technical docs.
• Liaise with contractors, clients and stakeholders for project alignment.
• Perform structural calculations and analysis to support design and planning.
• Maintain project records including budgets, schedules and QA docs.
• Provide on-site technical support to construction teams and address issues.
• Ensure compliance with building codes, regulations and safety standards.

About the role

Le Magnifique Sdn Bhd is seeking an Assistant Engineer to join our dynamic Civil/Structural Engineering team in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. This is a full-time position that offers an excellent opportunity to develop your engineering expertise whilst contributing to meaningful infrastructure and construction projects. As an Assistant Engineer, you will support senior engineers in the design, planning, and execution of civil and structural engineering projects, playing a crucial role in ensuring projects meet quality standards, safety regulations, and client specifications. This position is integral to our commitment to delivering innovative engineering solutions and maintaining our reputation for excellence in the construction industry.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the design and development of structural and civil engineering projects, including drawings, calculations, and technical specifications
• Conduct site inspections and prepare detailed reports on project progress, materials, and compliance with engineering standards
• Support the preparation of project proposals, tender documents, and technical documentation
• Liaise with contractors, clients, and other stakeholders to ensure clear communication and project alignment
• Perform calculations and analysis to support structural design and construction planning
• Monitor and maintain project records, including budgets, schedules, and quality assurance documentation
• Assist in the resolution of on-site engineering challenges and provide technical support to construction teams
• Ensure compliance with relevant building codes, regulations, and safety standards throughout project execution
• Support the development of project timelines and contribute to resource planning and allocation

What we're looking for

• A Diploma in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related engineering discipline from a recognized institution
• Knowledge of structural design principles, building codes, and construction methodologies relevant to Malaysia
• Proficiency in engineering software such as AutoCAD, STAAD Pro, or similar design and analysis tools
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams
• Attention to detail and commitment to quality assurance and safety standards
• Familiarity with project management practices and site supervision
• Previous experience in civil or structural engineering projects, either through internships or entry-level positions, is preferred
