Job summary

Semangat Pintas Sdn Bhd is seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer (C&S) to join our Civil and Structural Engineering division in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. You will oversee complex civil and structural projects from inception to completion, leading project teams and ensuring schedule and budget adherence.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Civil/Structural Engineering, 8–10 years of relevant experience with 3–5 in a senior capacity, and proficiency in AutoCAD and STAAD Pro.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or related discipline.
• Professional Engineering qualification or registration with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) is highly desirable.
• 8–10 years of professional experience in civil and structural engineering, with 3–5 years in a senior/supervisory capacity.
• Proficient in project management including budgeting, scheduling and resource management.

Responsibilities

• Lead civil and structural projects delivering on time, within budget and to quality standards.
• Plan, schedule and allocate resources to optimise delivery.
• Conduct site inspections and supervise construction for design compliance and safety.
• Review drawings, specifications and engineering calculations for civil/structural works.
• Manage project teams and provide mentorship to engineers and technicians.
• Liaise with clients, consultants, contractors and regulators to ensure communication.
• Identify and manage project risks and implement mitigation strategies.
• Maintain project documentation including progress reports and records.
• Ensure compliance with building codes, standards and environmental regulations.

About the role

Semangat Pintas Sdn Bhd is seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer (C&S) to join our Civil and Structural Engineering division. This is a full-time position based in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, where you will play a critical leadership role in overseeing complex civil and structural engineering projects from inception through to completion. As a Senior Project Engineer, you will be responsible for managing project teams, ensuring adherence to timelines and budgets, and maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety across all deliverables. This role is pivotal in driving our company's reputation for excellence and innovation in the construction and infrastructure sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage civil and structural engineering projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget and to the required quality standards
• Oversee project planning, scheduling and resource allocation to optimise project delivery
• Conduct site inspections and supervise construction activities to ensure compliance with design specifications and safety regulations
• Prepare and review technical drawings, specifications and engineering calculations for civil and structural works
• Manage project teams, including engineers, technicians and contractors, providing guidance and mentorship
• Liaise with clients, consultants, contractors and regulatory authorities to ensure effective communication and stakeholder engagement
• Identify and manage project risks, implementing mitigation strategies to ensure successful project outcomes
• Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including progress reports, inspection records and performance metrics
• Ensure all projects comply with relevant building codes, industry standards and environmental regulations
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and share best practices across the organisation

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related discipline
• Professional Engineering qualification or registration with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) is highly desirable
• Minimum 8-10 years of professional experience in civil and structural engineering, with at least 3-5 years in a senior or supervisory capacity
• Proven expertise in project management, including experience with budgeting, scheduling and resource management
• Strong knowledge of civil and structural design principles, construction methodologies and industry best practices
• Proficiency in engineering software and CAD applications, such as AutoCAD, STAAD Pro or similar tools
• Excellent understanding of Malaysian building codes, regulations and safety standards
• Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to manage and mentor engineering teams effectively
• Strong problem-solving capabilities and attention to detail
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with fluency in English and Bahasa Malaysia
• Experience in managing large-scale infrastructure, commercial or industrial projects is preferred
