Job summary

Jora Malaysia is seeking a passionate Application Engineer to promote and support 3D measurement solutions within the Digital Manufacturing and Metrology space. You will provide technical consultation, live product demonstrations, and customer training across 3D scanning, reverse engineering, and inspection.

You will lead technical sales support, execute 3D scanning projects, and ensure on-time delivery aligned with customer requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Manufacturing/Mechatronics/Industrial Engineering or equivalent.
• 2–5 years of experience in 3D scanning, metrology, CMM, product inspection or CAD design.
• Strong technical aptitude with willingness to learn and apply new technologies.
• Willingness to travel for customer visits, project execution and training.

Responsibilities

• Conduct technical presentations and live demonstrations of FARO products and solutions.
• Identify customer requirements with Sales and recommend suitable solutions.
• Provide technical consultation during the sales cycle and during project delivery.
• Prepare proof-of-concept studies and application feasibility assessments.
• Install, configure, and commission FARO hardware and software; train customers.
• Support exhibitions, workshops, webinars, and customer events.
• Perform 3D scanning projects, point cloud processing and mesh generation.
• Deliver dimensional inspection reports and engineering documentation.

We are seeking a passionate and customer-oriented Application Engineer to support our growing Digital Manufacturing and Metrology business. The successful candidate will be responsible for promoting and supporting 3D measurement solutions, providing technical consultation, conducting product demonstrations, customer training, and delivering professional engineering services related to 3D scanning, reverse engineering, and inspection.

This role requires a combination of technical expertise, customer engagement, and project execution to help customers maximize the value of 3D measurement technologies.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Sales Support

• Conduct technical presentations and live demonstrations of FARO products and solutions.
• Work closely with the Sales team to identify customer requirements and recommend suitable solutions.
• Provide technical consultation during the sales cycle.
• Prepare proof-of-concept studies and application feasibility assessments.
• Support exhibitions, seminars, workshops, webinars, and customer events.
• Install, configure, and commission FARO hardware and software.
• Conduct customer training on equipment operation and best practices.
• Provide application support and troubleshooting.
• Assist customers in improving measurement workflows and productivity.
• Handle customer technical inquiries and maintain high customer satisfaction.

Project Services

• Execute 3D scanning projects using FARO portable measurement systems.
• Perform point cloud processing and data alignment.
• Generate mesh and CAD models from scanned data.
• Conduct reverse engineering and CAD remodeling.
• Prepare dimensional inspection reports and engineering documentation.
• Ensure projects are delivered on time and meet customer expectations.
• Work closely with principals, suppliers, and internal engineering teams.
• Support new product launches and technology updates.
• Continuously improving technical knowledge through training and certifications.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent.

Experience

• 2–5 years of experience in one or more of the following:
• 3D Scanning
• Metrology
• Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM)
• Product Inspection
• CAD Design
• Manufacturing Engineering
• Fresh graduates with strong technical aptitude and willingness to learn are encouraged to apply.

Technical Skills

Knowledge or experience in one or more of the following is an advantage:

• Portable CMM systems
• Laser scanning technologies
• CAD software (SOLIDWORKS, CATIA, Creo, Geomagic)
• GD&T interpretation
• Engineering drawings and dimensional inspection
• Microsoft Office
