Job summary

Brenntag is seeking an Analyst to manage cash applications in Malaysia, ensuring accurate and timely postings. The role requires Mandarin proficiency for regular liaison with Mandarin-speaking stakeholders and partners.

You will reconcile payments daily, collaborate with collections, and support month-end closings while maintaining adherence to policy and internal controls.

Qualifications

• Degree holder in Commerce, Finance or Accounting with relevant coursework.
• 1–3 years in Accounts Receivable or related field; shared services experience is a plus.
• Strong communication in English; Mandarin proficiency required for stakeholder interactions.

Responsibilities

• Handle daily cash receipts and postings to customer accounts accurately and timely.
• Review and reconcile all payments received on a current basis.
• Identify unapplied amounts and work with internal teams to resolve receipts.
• Collaborate with collections to ensure proper payment application.
• Process and validate credit/debit memos with proper approvals.
• Record write-offs per guidelines and prepare account reconciliations.
• Adhere to service levels and company policies; respond promptly to emails.
• Escalate operational issues as needed and support month-end closing.

Job description

As an Analyst cash applications you will be involved in cash application activities accurately and timely in compliance with company policies and procedures, supporting day-to-day operations and issue resolution. Professional proficiency in Mandarin Chinese (spoken and written) is required, as the role involves regular communication with Mandarin-speaking stakeholders and business partners.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Responsible for daily cash receipts and postings to customer accounts accurately and timely.
• Review and reconcile all payments received on a current and daily basis.
• Identify daily unapplied amounts and work with respective internal team to resolve the unidentified receipt.
• Work closely with the collections team to ensure proper application of payments.
• Process and validate credit/ debit memos by ensuring appropriate approvals are in place prior to release.
• Perform write off adjustments on customer accounts in accordance to guidelines.
• Prepare reconciliation of accounts and resolve discrepancies which arise.
• Adhere to agreed service levels, company policies and procedures.
• Ensure timely and accurate response to emails and requests.
• Resolve operational issues within defined scope and escalates appropriately where required.
• Build and maintain working relationships with internal stakeholders to support day-to-day operations.
• Participate in internal / external audit and provide required information.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying issues and sharing observations.
• Cooperation with cross-functional teams within SSC for monthly closing activities.

Job Requirements

• Education : Degree in relevant field (Commerce, Finance, Accounting)
• Experience : 1 - 3 years of experience in Accounts Receivable or related field. Shared services experience is an added advantage.
• Skills Requirements : Team player with good interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal in English) Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g. SAP) and MS Office Ability to follow processes and work within defined guidelines
