Job summary

SF Global Express (M) Sdn Bhd in Malaysia is seeking a seasoned air freight procurement specialist to lead supplier management, negotiate freight rates, and develop end-to-end air freight solutions based on customer requirements and cargo characteristics.

You will monitor supplier performance, support sales teams with market quotations and tenders, coordinate cross-border operations with internal and external partners, and drive cost efficiency while ensuring compliance with aviation and customs

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in international air freight, airline route operations, air freight procurement, or related fields.
• Strong understanding of the international air freight market, airline networks, routes, capacity, and cargo space.
• Strong knowledge of end-to-end air freight operations with supplier sourcing and negotiation, market rate benchmarking, cost analysis.
• Strong market awareness and analytical skills for designing air freight solutions balancing cost and delivery requirements.
• Strong communication, execution, adaptability, and cross-functional coordination skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead air freight procurement and supplier management across airlines, freight forwarders, GSA/CSA, ground handlers, customs brokers, trucking, and other partners.
• Negotiate freight rates, capacity, payment terms, service standards, and commercial agreements with key suppliers.
• Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships while monitoring performance and cost competitiveness.
• Develop air freight solutions, routes, products, and quotations based on customer requirements and cargo characteristics.
• Support sales and business development with customer solutions, market quotations, tenders, and project implementation.
• Monitor end-to-end air freight operations including booking, customs clearance, pickup, delivery, tracking, and issue resolution.
• Analyze airline rates, capacity, market trends, and route performance to optimize transportation and costs.
• Develop SOPs and training for air freight products and operations and coordinate with internal/global teams and partners.
• Coordinate with internal departments and external partners to ensure smooth cross-border operations.

Job description

Lead air freight procurement and supplier management, covering airlines, freight forwarders, GSA/CSA, ground handlers, customs brokers, trucking, and other logistics partners.

Negotiate freight rates, capacity, payment terms, service standards, and commercial agreements with key suppliers.

Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships while monitoring supplier performance, service quality, and cost competitiveness.

Develop air freight solutions, routes, products, and quotations based on customer requirements, cargo characteristics, capacity, transit time, and cost.

Support sales and business development teams with customer solutions, market quotations, tenders, and project implementation.

Monitor end-to-end air freight operations, including booking, customs clearance, pickup, delivery, shipment tracking, and issue resolution.

Analyze airline rates, capacity, market trends, route performance, and project profitability to optimize transportation solutions and operating costs.

Develop and maintain SOPs and operational standards while providing air freight product and operational training to sales and operations teams.

Coordinate closely with internal departments, global network teams, customers, and external partners to ensure smooth cross-border operations.

Maintain diversified supplier and capacity resources, develop contingency plans, and ensure compliance with relevant customs, aviation, legal, and company requirements.

Job Requirements

3+ years of experience in international air freight, airline route operations, air freight procurement, or related fields. Candidates with experience in aviation product development, air cargo companies, or airlines are preferred.

Strong understanding of the international air freight market, airline networks, routes, capacity, and cargo space, with established resources across airlines, GSA/CSA, charter operators, or other aviation suppliers.

Strong knowledge of end-to-end air freight operations, with proven capabilities in supplier sourcing and negotiation, market rate benchmarking, cost analysis, and complex problem-solving.

Strong market awareness and analytical skills, with the ability to design air freight solutions or products that balance cost competitiveness, operational feasibility, and delivery requirements.

Strong communication, execution, adaptability, and cross-functional coordination skills, with the ability to work effectively under pressure and handle complex business situations.

Results-oriented and proactive, with the ability to take ownership and drive business outcomes. Experience in team training, business coaching, or team management is an advantage.
