About the role

We are seeking an Account Assistant (Mandarin Speaker) to join our finance team at JS HOME LIVING SDN. BHD. This is a full-time position based in Johor. In this role, you will provide essential accounting support to our finance department, assisting with day-to-day financial operations and record-keeping. Your proficiency in Mandarin will be valuable in communicating with our Chinese-speaking clients, suppliers, and stakeholders. This position plays a crucial role in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of our financial records whilst supporting the broader objectives of our accounting function.

Key responsibilities

• Recording and processing financial transactions in accordance with established accounting procedures and standards
• Assisting in the preparation and maintenance of general ledger accounts and supporting documentation
• Supporting the accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, including invoice processing and payment reconciliation
• Assisting with bank reconciliations and identifying discrepancies
• Preparing trial balances and assisting in month-end closing procedures
• Filing and organising financial documents and records in a systematic manner
• Supporting the preparation of financial reports and statements under supervision
• Communicating with clients, suppliers, and internal teams in Mandarin as required
• Assisting with data entry and maintaining accurate financial databases
• Supporting the senior accounting team with ad-hoc financial administration tasks

What we're looking for

• Proficiency in Mandarin (both written and spoken) is essential for this role
• A relevant qualification in accounting, bookkeeping, or finance (such as a diploma or certificate in accounting)
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
• Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy
• Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks effectively
• Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team
• Basic understanding of accounting principles and practices
• Ability to meet deadlines and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Previous experience in an accounting or finance role would be advantageous
• Knowledge of Malaysian tax and accounting regulations would be beneficial
