Position Summary:
The Development Engineer provides economical solutions to create & improve processes for the manufacture of wire & cable. This position interacts with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Cable Assembly Engineering, Manufacturing, Test Laboratories, raw material suppliers and equipment manufacturers. This position is responsible for the development & industrialization activities required of a high precision, high bandwidth product base.

Primary Responsibilities, Tasks & Deliverables:

1. Process / Product validation & transfer – Extrusion
2. Assist with product/process qualification
3. Interact with test lab on product/process qualification activities.
4. Support process improvement activities plus DOE, PFMEA, 8D & FA
5. Tooling Specification & Design.
6. Support additional manufacturing sites
7. Interact with outside equipment & tooling suppliers to ensure specification/requirements are met.
8. Support SQEs with raw material suppliers to develop and improve materials/quality/supply.
9. Support Cost Reduction Initiatives.
10. Support SAFE Activities
11. Support ISO Activities
12. Provide Technical support for maintenance activities.
13. Provide any support for any activities or projects necessary to support the business

1. Plastics, Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering Degree preferred.
2. This is an entry Level Position
3. At least 5 years experience in a high volume production environment a plus.
4. Knowledge of extrusion monitoring & control systems desirable
5. Proficient in SPC/Six Sigma/Lean
6. CAD Experience Required
7. Knowledge of materials used in the manufacture of wire & cable a plus.
8. Knowledge of additional manufacturing processes & equipment used in the manufacture of wire & cable a plus.

3. Strong communication and presentation skills.
4. Must have the ability to apply “common sense” in daily activities.
5. Must be able to work effectively on cross functional teams.
