Eaton’s IS VEH EMB division is seeking a Sr Test Engineer to design, validate and sustain test systems for automotive applications in Tijuana, Mexico. You’ll lead test-process automation, develop fixtures, and ensure quality using MSA, SPC and APQP practices.

The role requires 3–5 years in electrical test engineering and automotive manufacturing, with strong English and Spanish communication and a hands-on approach to continuous improvement.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree required in relevant engineering field.
• Strong written and spoken English and Spanish.
• 3–5 years of experience in electrical test engineering.
• 3–5 years of experience in automotive manufacturing environment.

Responsabilidades

• Design, validate, implement and sustain test systems with documentation and SPC.
• Promote continuous improvement and automation of test processes.
• Create test standard procedures and support focus factory units to reduce downtime.
• Change management: implement equipment, process and product changes per MCOs and deviations.
• Develop and implement test fixtures with guarding; pursue automation for reliability and cost savings.
• Align validations to automotive standards (MSA, etc.) and master sample development.

Eaton’s IS VEH EMB division is currently seeking a Sr Test Engineer.

Eaton announced, on June 11, 2026, the intent to combine its Mobility Group (including both the Vehicle and eMobility segments) with a new company. We expect to complete this process by the end of the first half of 2027. The compensation and benefits that will initially be offered for this position are based on Eaton's plans, programs and practices. If you are offered and accept this position and are actively employed by the Mobility Group when the transaction closes, the new company will provide further details to employees concerning compensation and benefits at that time.

What you’ll do:

Primary Function:

Responsible to design, validate, implement and sustain test systems; including documentation, training and statistical process control.

An Engineer seeks and promotes the continuous improvement and automation of the test processes on current and transfers businesses to improve efficiency or accuracy and ensure consistent results accross different platforms or devices.

Essential Functions:

1. Optimize test process complying with customer demand, quality, product specifications and safety to improve production shop floor in order to accomplish with company profits.
2. Responsible of creating test standard procedures and follow up adherence, support focus factory units to eliminate or mitigate down time.
3. Follow up and implement equipment, process and product changes according to MCOs and deviations, implement corrective and preventive actions according to the quality system to avoid reoccurrence of failures.
4. Test equipment development/improvement (software and hardware) Design, develop and implement test fixtures with proper guarding to eliminate or mitigate any risks, Implement automation projects for more reliable processes and cost out savings according to assigned budget.
5. Align to Automotive Standards for validations (such as MSA and other statistical tools), as well as master sample developments and poka yoke methods.
6. Develop TPM programs (Total preventive maintenance) and assure correct implementation on test equipment to reduce down time.
7. Execute test validation methods to meet quality test specifications according to APQP methodology.
8. Lead Capital Projects including decision matrix analysis, quoting process, timing, ROI and capitalization.
9. Implementation of porjects linked to Lean Six Sigma methdologies for waste elimination and variation reduction to improve the testing process.
10. Develop and implement improvement solutions based on Industry 4.0 with an automotive mindset.
11. Actively participate during layout changes and use of 3P methodology
12. Participates in safety assessments and generate JSA and MOC (Job safety analysis and Management of changes)
13. Support Introduction of new projects of the plant related to Electrical Test linked to the phases of the APQP methodology including planning, execution and validation

Qualifications:

Preferred education level:

• Bachelor's degree in Electronic, Electromechanical, mechatronics, biomedical engineering or similar.
• High level of communication skills (written/oral) in English

Years and area of experience required:

• 3- 5 years of experience in electrical test engineering positions or similar position.
• 3 – 5 years of experience in an automotive manufacturing environment.

Technical knowledge:

• Strong knowledge of IPC-610, and IATF 16949.
• Labview, TestStand, Chroma
• High knowledge on ICT and Functional Testers
• Strong knowledge on Lean Six Sigma methodologies and tools.

Skills:

Soft skills:

• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Spanish.
• Broad technical knowledge in the areas of manufacturing processes, plant engineering, production, maintenance needs and systems application.
