Eaton’s IS VEH EMB division is seeking an SMT Manufacturing Engineer in Tijuana, MX to design, validate and implement SMT manufacturing systems throughout the product life cycle.

The role emphasizes process documentation, control, continuous improvement, and collaboration with production, quality and engineering teams to increase yield and efficiency in an automotive environment.

Formación

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Electronics or Mechanics (or similar).
• Minimum 2 years of SMT manufacturing experience.
• Experience with PFMEA, process flow and APQP.
• IPC-A-610 and IPC-7711/21 knowledge; CQI-17 basics.
• Strong English and Spanish communication; leadership and analytical skills.

Responsabilidades

• Support Production Area and contribute to SQDCI metrics.
• Participate in safety assessments, generate JSA and MOC.
• Manage SMT technicians for production support, NPI, and related activities.
• Create, validate and implement assembly lines with documentation (PFMEA, WIs, flow charts).
• Participate in quality system improvements and APQP-based changes.
• Develop tools and fixtures per requirements; implement preventive maintenance.
• Routing management in SAP ERP and assist with layout changes.
• Drive Lean manufacturing and Industry 4.0 initiatives in an automotive mindset.

Eaton’s IS VEH EMB division is currently seeking a SMT Mfg Engineer.

Eaton announced, on June 11, 2026, the intent to combine its Mobility Group (including both the Vehicle and eMobility segments) with a new company. We expect to complete this process by the end of the first half of 2027. The compensation and benefits that will initially be offered for this position are based on Eaton's plans, programs and practices. What You’ll Do

Primary Function

Responsible to design, validate and implement SMT manufacturing systems; including process documentation, control and optimization through the life of the product. An Engineer seeks and promotes the continuous improvement of the manufacturing processes on current and transfers businesses.

Essential Functions

• Supports Production Area, contribute to the SQDCI metrics of the focus factory.
• Participate on required meetings related to the focus factory, participates in safety assessments and generate JSA and MOC (Job safety analysis and Management of changes).
• Manages SMT technicians for production support, program development, NPI support and other.
• Create, design, validate and implement manufacturing systems (assembly lines) including documentation (PFMEA, WIs, flow chart, procedures) and establishes and implement process controls.
• Participate on quality system improvements and implement changes accordingly through the APQP methodology.
• Develop and implement tools as per new or revised requirements (standard tooling) and new design fixtures for assembly (fixtures, stencils)
• Establishes preventive maintenance program for new assembly systems or stations.
• Deals with process abnormities, improves pass rate and decrease rejection rate and evaluates new components. Routing Management in the ERP system (SAP), implementation of standard work and improve line efficiency and seeks and promotes Cost Out Projects
• Develop and implement Industry 4.0 initiatives linked to an automotive mindset.
• Develop and implement product/process changes such as MCO’s, deviations and validations.
• Seeks and promotes the continuous improvement (Lean manufacturing system), Uses daily production data (yields/thru-put/etc.) to develop and execute corrective actions plans to drive continuous improvement.
• Routing management in the ERP system (SAP), Participate during layout changes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, Electronics or Mechanics (or similar).
• Minimum 2 years of experience in SMT manufacturing and equipment areas and/or similar position.
• Experience/knowledge with process and equipment validation, PFEMA, process flow, APQP, etc.
• Strong knowledge in IPC-A-610 and IPC-7711/21. Basic knowledge on CQI-17.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Spanish, leadership skills, proactive, strong organization and analytical thinker.
