Eaton Corporation’s SMT Sr Engineer role in Baja California, Mexico, is responsible for designing, validating and implementing SMT manufacturing systems, including process documentation and SAP routing management.

You will lead capital investment projects, manage SMT technicians and engineers, develop process controls, support APQP/ PFMEA, and drive continuous improvement through Industry 4.0 initiatives and Kaizen activities.

Formación

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Electronics or Mechanics (or similar).
• Minimum 3 years of experience in SMT manufacturing and equipment areas and/or similar position.
• Experience/knowledge with process and equipment validation, PFMEA, process flow, APQP, etc.
• Strong knowledge in IPC-A-610, IPC-7711/21 and IATF-16949. Basic knowledge on CQI-17.

Responsabilidades

• Design, validate and implement SMT manufacturing systems; including process documentation, control and optimization through the life of the product.
• Lead Capital Investment projects to improve productivity, cost savings, replace obsolete equipment and other by following financial guidelines.
• Manage SMT technicians and SMT Engineers for production support, program development, NPI support and other.
• Create, design, validate and implement manufacturing systems (assembly lines) including documentation (PFMEA, WIs, flow chart, procedures) and establishes and implement process controls.
• Participate on quality system improvements and implement changes accordingly through the APQP methodology.
• Develop and implement tools as per new or revised requirements (standard tooling) and new design fixtures for assembly (fixtures, stencils)
• Routing management in the ERP system (SAP), lead and participate in VSM and Kaizen events, implement standard work
• Deals with process abnormalities, improves pass rate and decrease rejection rate and evaluates new components.
• Develop and implement Industry 4.0 initiatives linked to an automotive mindset.
• Develop and implement product/process changes such as MCO’s, deviations and validations.
• Seeks and promotes continuous improvement (Lean manufacturing system), uses daily production data to develop and execute corrective actions plans to drive continuous improvement.

Eaton’s IS VEH EMB division is currently seeking a SMT Sr Engineer.

Eaton announced, on June 11, 2026, the intent to combine its Mobility Group (including both the Vehicle and eMobility segments) with a new company. We expect to complete this process by the end of the first half of 2027. The compensation and benefits that will initially be offered for this position are based on Eaton's plans, programs and practices. What you’ll do:

Responsible to design, validate and implement SMT manufacturing systems; including process documentation, control and optimization through the life of the product. Routing Management in the ERP system (SAP), implementation of standard work and improve line efficiency and seeks and promotes Cost Out Projects. An Engineer seeks and promotes the continuous improvement of the manufacturing processes on current and transfers businesses.

Essential Functions:

1. Supports Production Area, contribute to the SQDCI metrics of the focus factory.
2. Lead Capital Investment projects to improve productivity, cost savings, replace obsolete equipment and others by following the financial guidelines, working on a project timeline and coordinating all activities for the complete successful implementation of the project.
3. Manages SMT technicians and SMT Engineers for production support, program development, NPI support and other.
4. Create, design, validate and implement manufacturing systems (assembly lines) including documentation (PFMEA, WIs, flow chart, procedures) and establishes and implement process controls.
5. Participate on quality system improvements and implement changes accordingly through the APQP methodology.
6. Develop and implement tools as per new or revised requirements (standard tooling) and new design fixtures for assembly (fixtures, stencils)

Qualifications:

Basic qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, Electronics or Mechanics (or similar).
• Minimum 3 years of experience in SMT manufacturing and equipment areas and/or similar position.
• Experience/knowledge with process and equipment validation, PFEMA, process flow, APQP, etc.
• Strong knowledge in IPC-A-610, IPC-7711/21 and of IATF-16949. Basic knowledge on CQI-17.

Skills:

• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Spanish, leadership skills, proactive, strong organization and analytical thinker.
