Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Sommelier and Wine Consultant to lead wine curation, client guidance, and portfolio strategy from a remote setting. You will shape wine offerings for a discerning clientele, leveraging international expertise and strong tasting skills to elevate experiences.

You will collaborate with a global team, train clients and staff, and stay ahead of trends. Fluency in English and Spanish is required, with opportunities for continued education and a generous wine allowance.

Qualifications

• Advanced sommelier certification or equivalent extensive experience.
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive wine selection and guest service experience.
• Extensive knowledge of global wine regions, varietals and viticulture.
• Excellent tasting skills and ability to articulate complex flavor profiles.
• Strong wine and food pairing knowledge and communication abilities.
• Experience with wine inventory management software and virtual communications.
• Ability to work independently and manage projects remotely.
• Fluency in Spanish and English; additional languages are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop, manage, and update wine lists for client establishments and DTC channels.
• Conduct wine tastings and evaluations, identify wines aligned with trends and client needs.
• Provide expert wine recommendations and pairing guidance to clients and teams.
• Educate and train sales teams on varietals, regions, vintages, and tasting notes.
• Source and build relationships with wineries and distributors globally.
• Manage wine inventory, ordering, receiving and storage protocols.
• Develop wine-focused marketing initiatives and online content.
• Stay updated on global wine industry trends and innovations.
• Create engaging virtual wine education events and masterclasses.
• Analyze sales data to optimize wine selections and opportunities.
