Job summary

General Mills in Mexico City seeks a Senior Quality Engineer to drive FSQ performance across ESC locations and act as a regional FSQ auditor. You will lead audits, ensure regulatory and company policy compliance, and partner with Sourcing, SC, and R&D to close gaps.

The role requires five-plus years in Food Safety/Quality, HACCP/HARPC expertise, and up to ~50% travel domestically and internationally.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemical/Mechanical/Industrial Engineering, Microbiology, or related field.
• 5+ years in Food Safety & Quality, including plant/ESC experience.
• Experience leading FSQ risk assessments, investigations and CAPA.
• Hands-on with HACCP/HARPC and regulatory requirements (FDA/USDA or equivalent).
• Strong problem-solving to synthesize data into risk-based recommendations.
• Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without direct authority.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (about 50%).

Responsibilities

• Lead FSQ ownership for ESC locations: risk management from pre-assessment to steady-state production.
• Input to new ESC qualifications, line expansions, changes with Sourcing, SC, and R&D.
• Ensure FSQ policy adherence, hazard analysis, allergen, sanitation and traceability controls.
• Review FSQ documents (site programs, COAs, deviations, investigations) for alignment.
• Lead issue management and corrective actions with root-cause analysis.
• Use data to identify systemic risk and drive improvements with ESC partners.
• Plan, lead and execute supplier audits for a defined region.
• Assess site conformance and communicate risks to leadership.
• Draft risk-based audit reports and coach on corrective actions.
• Collaborate with global XQM peers to calibrate audit expectations.
• Contribute to FSQ tools, guidance and training improvements.
