Job summary

Wallenius Wilhelmsen is seeking an experienced Employee Relations Manager for Mexico to lead employee and labor relations initiatives, ensuring compliance with local laws and alignment with our values. The role reports to the VP Human Resources for Mexico and Panama and focuses on advising leaders, managing investigations, and driving best practices for a fair, engaging workplace.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Industrial Relations, Labor Law, or related field.
• Seven years of progressive experience in HR, Employee Relations, or Labor Relations.
• Experience in manufacturing or industrial environments.
• Knowledge of Mexican labor laws and regulations.
• Experience conducting workplace investigations and handling employee relations cases.
• Experience working with unions and in collective bargaining.
• Experience in performance management, compensation, and benefits administration.
• Fluent in English (written and spoken).
• Strong HR policy and employment law knowledge.
• Excellent communication, influencing, and negotiation skills.
• Ability to handle sensitive matters discreetly and professionally.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
• Ability to build credibility and relationships across organizational levels.

Responsibilities

• Investigate and resolve complex employee relations cases promptly and effectively.
• Manage complaints, grievances, disciplinary matters, and workplace conflicts.
• Ensure fair application of policies and employment decisions.
• Partner with VP HR for Mexico and Panama to develop employee relations programs.
• Analyze feedback and trends to identify risks and opportunities.
• Guide managers and employees on labor laws and policies.
• Design and deliver training on employee relations and conflict management.
• Represent the organization in labor negotiations and grievance processes.
• Collaborate with Legal and HR leadership on negotiations and proceedings.
• Support strategies to strengthen engagement and positive labor relations.
• Recommend practical solutions to workplace issues while minimizing risk.
• Participate in strategic HR initiatives.
