Job summary

Advanced Energy in Mexicali, Mexico, is seeking a maintenance and automation supervisor to lead design, installation, and optimization of electrical control systems, robotics, and instrumentation.

You will drive TPM initiatives, develop preventive maintenance programs, mentor technicians, and coordinate cross-functional teams to meet safety, quality, and production goals. The role requires 6+ years in a similar position, strong PLC and robotics experience, and excellent English proficiency.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 years in a similar maintenance/engineering supervisor role.
• Minimum 85% proficiency in English.
• Advanced experience in electrical controls, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
• Ability to read electrical/control diagrams.
• Advanced knowledge of PLC programming and troubleshooting.
• Experience programming and troubleshooting six-axis or higher industrial robots.

Responsibilities

• Design and manage machinery, equipment, and automated systems involved in production processes.
• Improve operational efficiency, quality, and costs through automation projects.
• Develop and maintain preventive maintenance routines for control, instrumentation, and automation equipment.
• Integrate software and hardware solutions to support process automation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional departments on the implementation of new projects.
• Develop user, installation, and maintenance manuals for automation equipment.
• Train personnel on control systems, instrumentation, and automation processes as required.
• Support and promote TPM initiatives.
• Participate in root cause analysis and problem-solving activities related to equipment failures.
• Effectively manage all company equipment and tools related to control and automation systems.
• Participate in continuous improvement projects involving preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance.
• Design tooling, devices, and systems to improve productivity.
• Design tooling, devices, and error-proofing systems (Poka-Yoke).
• Establish and maintain spare parts inventories for critical equipment.
• Provide technical support in troubleshooting control, instrumentation, and automation issues.
• Verify equipment compliance with specifications and oversee machine setup and adjustments.
• Analyze production schedules to coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
• Interpret and apply equipment specifications, procedures, and departmental standards.
• Establish and adjust work processes to meet production and customer requirements in accordance with production schedules and workflow demands.
• Continuously improve departmental operations through Lean Manufacturing practices.
• Measure, track, and effectively report departmental performance and activities.
• Develop, update, and maintain departmental work instructions.
• Analyze and resolve operational issues and address personnel-related conflicts within the department.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
• Coordinate with supervisors and team leaders to achieve departmental and organizational objectives.
• Perform duties in compliance with company policies and procedures.
• Recommend improvements to working conditions to prevent accidents and enhance workplace safety.
• Ensure personnel comply with company policies and all applicable safety regulations.
• Provide employees with the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) required for their tasks.
• Ensure proper use of PPE by all employees under supervision.
• Supervise, delegate, and evaluate subordinate personnel effectively.
• Maintain clean and organized work areas.
• Perform other duties and special projects assigned by the Maintenance Manager.
