Job summary

ON.energy is seeking a qualified SCADA Engineer to own core Ignition configurations, tag structures, and UDT setups for SCADA across battery energy storage systems and grid assets.

You will design MQTT communication, integrate with PLCs using MQTT/Modbus/OPC UA/DNP3, and develop automation tools to support deployment, validation, and commissioning. Strong troubleshooting and docs are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Controls/Computer Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years hands-on Ignition experience including tag configuration, UDT setup, device connections, and scripting.
• Experience with industrial protocols such as MQTT, Modbus TCP/RTU, OPC UA, or DNP3.
• Experience building scripts/tools for SCADA configuration, deployment, or validation.
• Strong troubleshooting across software and field hardware.

Responsibilities

• Configure and maintain SCADA tags, UDTs, and device connections in Ignition for scalable multi-site deployments.
• Design MQTT-based SCADA communication, broker setup, and topic structures.
• Integrate SCADA with PLCs and field devices using MQTT, Modbus, OPC UA, and DNP3.
• Develop tools to automate UDT/Tag generation, configuration templates, and data validation.
• Create scripts to support point checkout, configuration comparison, and deployment automation.
• Improve SCADA performance, reliability, and deployment efficiency across OT, DMZ, and Cloud.
