Smurfit Westrock is seeking a Sales Manager Mexico and West Coast based in Tijuana with extensive North American market experience in flexible packaging. The role involves developing and implementing long-range sales projections, forecasts and strategic plans to drive growth across the region.

You will manage complex customer negotiations, coordinate with R&D, quality, finance, supply chain and marketing, and travel regularly to promote and close opportunities.

Formación

• At least 7 years in sales within flexible packaging.
• Leadership experience in a decentralised organisation.

Our Vitop® Original tap is the most commonly used for Bag-in-Box® wines and juices in the world for its exceptional and consistent quality - with a leak rate of less than 1 in 85 million since its launch.

We are currently looking for a results-oriented, pro-active and highly qualified Sales Manager Mexico and West Coast to join our team. In this role you will be responsible to ensure solid growth within the North American market. You will have the opportunity to deliver major impact on our business while developing and implementing the projections, forecasts and long-range planning strategies that will fuel our success today and into the future.

The ideal candidate will have a combination of a strong international sales background within the flexible packaging industry, analytic depth, communication skills, negotiation abilities, and familiarity with working within a decentralised organisation.

The role is based in Tijuana and requires regular travels. The role has two direct reports.

About the role and key responsibilities

• Increase the Bag-in-Box market share across Mexico and across North America, with a particular focus on the West Coast, through extensive prospecting, managing the process including generating leads, bidding for new work and developing innovative supply solutions. Develop new customer interactions, either directly or through reseller partners.
• Lead the creation of strategic vision and targets in order to drive profitable growth and value for both Smurfit Westrock and Key customers.
• Full involvement in customer negotiations and overall project management and accounts’ budget.
• Collaborate with cross functional stakeholders, including R&D, quality, finance, supply chain and marketing to identify opportunities for innovation, and activation to advance our position with customers.
• Monitor and evaluate the results obtained to establish any possible variations and take corrective action in that regard.
• Analyse the market for competitors and possible products which improve on the performance and utility of current products.
• Be responsible for launching our Experience Centre in South Carolina, which will serve as our primary hub for customer visits in the U.S.
• Advise GM and business owners at the earliest opportunity of any concerns they may have about the sales performance of the business and/or its processes.

We are looking for someone who:

• Brings extensive (at least 7 years) sales development experience within the flexible packaging industry.
• Previous successful leadership experience is required, with an agility to engage with people remotely in a decentralised organisation.
• Proven analytical skills: ability to link strategies and objectives to develop a plan.
• Excellent communication skills: ability to send and receive information clearly and concisely.
• Superior presentation skills, both in development of compelling stories and in presenting them at all levels within customer and internal organization.
• Decisive, action-oriented, and able to manage deliverables effectively. Strong sense of ownership and flexibility when operational challenges occur.
• High attention to detail and proven ability to autonomously manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
• Drives for innovation.
• Enjoys finding solutions to problems and has a hands‑on mentality.
• Energy and drive to motivate positive change within the team.
• Strong proficiency in both Spanish and English is mandatory.
