Gates Corporation in Mexico seeks a Quality Engineer at the Atlacomulco plant to implement sampling, inspection, testing mechanisms and process improvements. You will interface with internal/external customers and plating suppliers to uphold quality standards.

The role requires 4-6 years in a metal/mechanic or automotive setting, engineering degree, and strong problem-solving abilities. English must be advanced; ISO/IATF and Core Tools knowledge are highly valued.

Formación

  • 4-6 years of experience in a similar position in metal-mechanic, assembly or automotive industries.
  • Engineering degree as stated; related discipline acceptable.
  • English advanced.
  • Core Tools certification desirable.
  • Knowledge of VDA, core tools, ISO/IATF 16949 and GD&T.
  • ISO/IATF certification desirable.
  • Problem solving process.
  • Strong attention to internal and external customer requests.
  • Computer proficiency: Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

Responsabilidades

  • Ensure customer requirements are met and process compliance is maintained.
  • Support APQP/PPAP processes and new launches.
  • Lead corrective actions and engage cross-functional teams.
  • Coordinate quality audits and supplier interactions.
  • Drive continuous improvement in manufacturing processes.
  • Manage quality metrics and risk assessments.
  • Support manufacturing training and leadership for small teams.

Position Summary

As an innovation leader, we look for ambitious, forward-thinking, open-minded and well-rounded individuals to join our global team. Located in Plant Atlacomulco you will be Quality Engineer.

Will implement process sampling systems, procedures, and statistical techniques (when required) and will design or specify inspection and testing mechanisms and equipment. Will analyze production process limitations and standards, and work with Technical Services to recommend revision of specifications when indicated. The role assists in formulating quality policies and procedures and will develop the required quality activities. Will have direct interface with the Customer-internal and external-and the plating supplier.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Ensure that the customer’s specific requirements are met.
  • Participate in the reduction of the Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ).
  • Create and follow up the action that comes from internal, external or customer audits.
  • Ensure that preventive and corrective actions are implemented and seek continuous improvement of the manufacturing area).
  • Ensure specific customer requirements.
  • Participate in reducing poor quality costs generated in manufacturing processes.
  • Promoting awareness of customer requirements as well as monitoring internal, external or customer audit processes
  • Ensure that preventive and corrective actions are taken in the production process seeking customer satisfaction and continuous improvement in the manufacturing area.
  • PPAP submission for new launches and Engineering changes
  • Take the leadership and participate in new projects through APQP methodology.
  • Coordinate corrective actions with a cross functional team until 8 D"s is fully submitted to the customer and provide evidence.
  • Follow up to the safe launch methodology for new launches to make sure we are delivering good parts.
  • Follow up to old and new eQINs until closure.
  • Manage the Cost of inferior quality and other metrics in the manufacturing area.
  • Manager the group of quality auditors to ensure the correct product sampling as part of the quality audit inspection

Requirements And Preferred Skills
  • 4 -6 years of experience in a similar position, preferably in the metal-mechanic industry or assembly and automotive industry.
  • Chemical, Industrial or Mechanical Engineering (Graduate) or Bachelor"s Degree in related discipline
  • English advanced
  • Core Tools (certification desirable)
  • Knowledge in: VDA, core tools, ISO&IATF 16949 and GD&T (Certificate desirable)
  • ISO/IATF (certification desirable)
  • Problem Solving process.
  • Exceptional attention to internal and external customer requests.
