Job summary

Blue Box Talent is seeking a Quality Director to lead a multinational OEM with metalworking manufacturing in Mexico and the United States, based in the Bajío region. The role demands extensive multisite leadership experience and a hands-on Gemba approach on the shop floor.

The ideal candidate will drive quality across the entire product lifecycle, with a strong background in low-volume, high-complexity production and deep knowledge of heavy-tonnage processes.

Qualifications

• Experience leading Quality functions across multiple manufacturing sites.
• Advanced English required.
• Background in heavy metalworking or complex metal processing.
• Experience with Low Volume, High Complexity (ETO) environments.
• Strong understanding of product lifecycle from design to delivery.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee quality strategy and management systems across sites in Mexico and the United States.
• Drive quality throughout the product lifecycle and value chain from design to delivery.
• Ensure quality excellence in heavy-tonnage metalworking processes.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives, root cause analysis, and process optimization on the floor (Gemba).
• Develop and strengthen quality teams, standardize processes across sites, and collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, and Customer Service.
• Promote and implement Quality Management Systems and audits across the organization.

At Blue Box Talent, we are looking for a Quality Director to join a leading international OEM with manufacturing operations in Mexico and the United States, based in the Bajío region of Mexico.

If you have extensive experience leading quality strategies in complex industrial environments, managing multiple manufacturing sites, and a strong background in heavy-duty metalworking processes, we want to hear from you! We are looking for a strategic leader with a comprehensive understanding of the product lifecycle, strong business acumen, and a hands-on approach on the manufacturing floor (Gemba).

• Lead and oversee the quality strategy and management systems across multiple manufacturing sites in Mexico and the United States, ensuring consistent standards and operational excellence.
  
• Drive quality throughout the entire product lifecycle and value chain, from design and engineering through industrialization, manufacturing, installation, and final customer delivery.
  
• Ensure quality excellence in complex metalworking processes, particularly involving heavy-tonnage manufacturing, thick materials, and low-volume, high-complexity production environments (Low Volume, High Complexity / Engineer to Order).
  
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives, defect prevention, root cause analysis, and process optimization, maintaining an active presence on the manufacturing floor through Gemba practices.
  
• Develop and strengthen quality teams, standardize processes across sites, and collaborate strategically with Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, and Customer Service.
  
• Bachelor's degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Metallurgical Engineering, or a related field.
  
• Extensive experience leading Quality functions within complex metalworking or heavy manufacturing environments.
  
• Proven multisite leadership experience, overseeing manufacturing plants and teams across different locations, ideally in Mexico and the United States.
  
• Strong technical knowledge of complex metalworking processes, heavy-tonnage manufacturing, thick-gauge materials, and engineered-to-order (ETO) operations.
  
• Experience in Low Volume, High Complexity manufacturing environments, involving highly customized products and processes.
  
• Comprehensive understanding of quality across the entire product lifecycle, including design, engineering, manufacturing, integration, installation, and final customer delivery.
  
• Experience implementing and strengthening Quality Management Systems, continuous improvement initiatives, audits, root cause analysis, and problem-solving methodologies.
  
• Strong Gemba experience, combining strategic leadership and decision-making capabilities with hands‑on execution and direct engagement on the manufacturing floor.
  
• Advanced English proficiency is mandatory.
