Commercial Vehicle Group, Inc (CVG) in Saltillo, MX, seeks a hands-on engineering professional to oversee manufacturing processes for performance and quality. The role focuses on improving efficiency, implementing modifications, and reducing costs while optimizing production.

You will develop or refine process designs, assembly steps, and work instructions; manage PFMEAs and related docs; and keep engineering changes controlled and on track.

Formación

  • Engineering degree required.
  • Lean manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt is a plus.
  • Knowledge of GD&T.
  • Excellent verbal and written English.
  • Ability to write reports and procedures.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills.

Summary Responsible for overseeing manufacturing processes to ensure optimal parameters are achieved for performance and quality. This role focuses on improving efficiency, implementing modifications, and enhancing processes with a cost-reduction mindset and production optimization.


Responsibilities include developing or improving process designs, assembly, and operational sequences, defining and controlling work instructions, PFMEAs, and related documentation. Additionally, responsible for keeping engineering-related process changes on track and under control.


Main Responsibilities and Activities


  • Achieve engineering KPI objectives.

  • Assist with process-related engineering issues.

  • Lead program launch activities to ensure new products are delivered on time and project milestones are met.

  • Coordinate the timely implementation of engineering changes.

  • Ensure work instructions are updated, published, and operators are trained.

  • Responsible for validating and approving all equipment before commissioning.

  • Conduct layered process audits and safety net audits according to the required schedule; ensure compliance with engineering team audits.

  • Report engineering highlights and provide solutions for each.

  • Attend cross-functional meetings as needed.

  • Ensure compliance with all IATF-16949, ISO-14001, and plant-related audits (internal and external).

  • Develop and maintain updated procedures related to the area of responsibility.

  • Analyze plant capacity and monitor processes to maintain optimal production targets.

  • Continuously seek and identify cost reduction opportunities by applying technical expertise, and/or work on implementing cost‑saving or process improvement projects generated by oneself and/or other areas to meet the plant's MOVE (savings) objectives.

  • Use tools like 5WHY’s and PDCA to define root causes of problems.

  • Ensure all documentation is completed on time and up to date, including operator team training.

  • Communicate effectively across all levels of the organization to ensure issues are addressed and resolved promptly.

  • Develop equipment modifications to increase performance and improve operational flexibility.

  • Adhere to environmental and climate change policies.

  • Identify, control, and minimize significant environmental aspects related to the work area.

  • Implement good environmental practices.

  • Foster an environmental culture.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Education / Experience / Skills

Bachelor's degree in engineering is required. Ability to read and interpret technical communications, blueprints, diagrams, and drawings. Desired experience in lean manufacturing. Six Sigma Green Belt is a plus. Knowledge of GD&T. Verbal Skills English (written and spoken) +80%. Must be able to communicate effectively with customers and intercompany personnel. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, employees, and customers. Mathematical Skills Mathematical skills for calculating efficiency, consumption, turnaround times, capacity, cycle times, etc. Mathematical skills for problem‑solving and data analysis. Reasoning Skills Expert in deductive reasoning. This position requires the ability to organize thoughts and priorities under considerable pressure. Must be able to reason and solve problems based on a technical understanding of needs and procedures. Ability to define problems and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret a wide variety of technical instructions and handle both abstract and concrete variables. Computer Skills Proficient in Microsoft Office software. MS Project. Desired knowledge of AutoCAD, NX, SolidWorks. Minitab is a plus.


Physical Requirements

Extended periods of sitting may be required to review documents at a computer monitor. Perform floor‑level process tasks.
