Job summary

The Magnum Ice Cream Company in Mexico seeks a Payroll Subject Matter Expert to lead end-to-end blue-collar payroll for manufacturing and logistics teams. You will ensure accurate, timely, and compliant weekly and bi-weekly payroll processing, with deep expertise in labor compliance and payroll systems.

The role

At The Magnum Ice Cream Company, we are on a mission to build the ultimate standalone snacking company. As we continue to strengthen our operational capabilities, we are looking for a dedicated Payroll SME to lead and manage our end-to-end blue collar payroll operations in Mexico. In this high-impact role, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant weekly and bi-weekly payroll processing for our manufacturing plant and logistics team members.

What you’ll be responsible for

• Oversee and execute end-to-end weekly and bi-weekly payroll cycles for all blue-collar personnel across plant and distribution operations.
• Serve as the Subject Matter Expert on Mexican labor laws, collective bargaining agreements (CBA), overtime calculations, attendance tracking, and statutory obligations (IMSS, Infonavit, FNT, ISR).
• Review and validate time & attendance inputs, shift differentials, bonuses, and benefit deductions to ensure 100% accuracy in Gross-to-Net (GTN) calculations.
• Partner with Plant HR, Operations, Finance, and external vendor partners to streamline input generation, audit reports, and funding processes.
• Perform weekly and bi-weekly spot checks, audit reports, and prepare payroll sign-off documentation for Finance and treasury disbursements.
• Lead payroll system testing, parallel runs, and continuous improvement initiatives tailored to operational and frontline workforce needs.
• Support employee inquiries regarding payslips, statutory deductions, and payroll adjustments with high precision, speed, and empathy.

We’re looking for someone who

• Has extensive experience in high-volume, operational payroll management (weekly and catorcenal cycles) for blue-collar populations in manufacturing or FMCG environments.
• Brings deep knowledge of Mexican labor regulations, IMSS/Infonavit compliance, unionized workforce considerations, and time & attendance systems.
• Possesses strong technical proficiency in payroll software (Workday, SAP, or similar platforms) and Gross-to-Net audit processes.
• Thinks end-to-end and takes ownership for results.
• Is comfortable working in a fast-moving, evolving organisation.
• Values collaboration, clarity and low-ego ways of working.
• Fluent in Spanish and professional English proficiency.
