Schneider Electric in Apodaca, Mexico, is seeking a Mechanical / Electrical Design Engineer to customize and engineer LVMCC, MCCs, switchgear, and power distribution equipment. You will tailor standard products to meet customer requirements and coordinate across engineering, manufacturing, and sales to deliver compliant solutions.

The role focuses on developing designs for low-voltage systems, reviewing electrical drawings, and supporting manufacturing, testing, installation, and commissioning

Formación

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electromechanical/Mechanical/Mechatronics or related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in engineering, design, or customization of low-voltage electrical equipment.
  • Experience with 2D/3D CAD and engineering documentation.
  • Knowledge of MCC/LVMCC, LV switchgear, power distribution equipment, and control panels.

Responsabilidades

  • Develop and modify mechanical and electrical designs for low-voltage power distribution equipment, MCCs, control panels, and related assemblies.
  • Customize layouts, electrical assemblies, copper bus systems, sheet metal components, and electrical devices according to customer specifications.
  • Create and maintain accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) for electrical and electromechanical assemblies.
  • Support engineering changes, product customization, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with customers and cross-functional teams to define electrical and mechanical requirements.
  • Review and interpret electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, wiring schematics, and equipment specifications.
  • Provide technical support during manufacturing, testing, installation, and commissioning activities when required.
  • Partner with sales, project management, manufacturing, and field service teams to deliver customer-focused solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable quality, safety, and industry standards.

We are seeking a Mechanical / Electrical Design Engineer to support the customization and engineering of Low Voltage Motor Control Centers (LVMCC), Low Voltage Dropout, Motor Control Centers (MCC), switchgear, power distribution equipment, and electrical assemblies at our Plant 1 in Apodaca.

This role is ideal for engineers with experience in low-voltage electrical systems, power distribution equipment, industrial control panels, and electromechanical design who enjoy adapting standard products to meet customer-specific requirements.

In this role, you will work on the customization of electrical equipment and assemblies, including MCCs, switchboards, control panels, copper bus systems, sheet metal components, and associated electrical devices. You will collaborate closely with engineering, manufacturing, sales, and customers to deliver compliant, high-quality solutions for low-voltage distribution and motor control applications.

What are the key skills we are looking for?
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and single-line diagrams.
  • Familiarity with commissioning, testing, troubleshooting, or field support activities is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Intermediate to advanced English proficiency.
  • Customer-oriented mindset with the ability to translate technical requirements into practical solutions.
What qualifications will make you successful?
  • 2+ years of experience in engineering, design, or customization of low-voltage electrical equipment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
  • Experience with 2D/3D CAD tools and engineering documentation.
  • Experience with one or more of the following:
    • Motor Control Centers (MCC/LVMCC)
    • Low Voltage Dropout (LVDO)
    • Low Voltage Switchgear
    • Power Distribution Equipment
    • Control Panels
    • Switchboards
    • Electrical Assemblies
    • Industrial Automation Systems
  • Knowledge of electrical components such as breakers, contactors, relays, motor starters, VFDs, soft starters, PLCs, and protection devices.
