Job summary

DHL Group's Legal Services in the Americas region seeks a qualified lawyer to ensure the legal integrity of business activities. You will draft, review, and negotiate diverse commercial agreements, assess risks, and support regulatory compliance across units.

The role requires a law degree with about 5 years of experience, strong communication skills, and solid English proficiency to operate in a global, matrixed organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in law with approximately 5 years of relevant practice.
• Experience drafting and negotiating complex contracts and agreements.
• Experience identifying and mitigating legal and business risks in a corporate setting.
• Experience coordinating with external law firms for disputes and investigations.

Responsibilities

• Review, draft, negotiate, and manage a broad range of commercial, operational, and corporate agreements.

Job Purpose

• Ensure the legal integrity of business activities and strategic initiatives by providing proactive legal advice, managing contractual matters, supporting regulatory compliance, mitigating legal risks, and coordinating dispute resolution. Deliver practical and timely legal solutions that protect the organization, enable business continuity, and support sustainable growth across multiple functions and stakeholders.

Your Tasks

• Review, draft, negotiate, and manage a broad range of commercial, operational, and corporate agreements to ensure legal compliance and alignment with business objectives.
• Provide legal advice and risk assessments for business initiatives, projects, commercial opportunities, operational activities, and strategic decisions.
• Support stakeholders through the identification, evaluation, and mitigation of legal, regulatory, and contractual risks.
• Develop, maintain, and implement legal templates, guidelines, playbooks, policies, and best practices to enhance consistency and efficiency.
• Advise on disputes, claims, incidents, escalations, non-compliance matters, and conflict resolution strategies.
• Provide legal guidance regarding the interpretation and application of contracts, policies, procedures, and business requirements.
• Support compliance with applicable laws, regulations, internal policies, and corporate governance standards.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to facilitate business objectives while ensuring legal and regulatory requirements are appropriately addressed.
• Support interactions with governmental authorities, regulatory bodies, industry organizations, and external stakeholders, as required.
• Coordinate litigation, administrative proceedings, investigations, and external legal counsel, ensuring effective case management and compliance
• Contribute to legal training, awareness initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts to strengthen legal risk management and business knowledge across the organization.
• Monitor legal and regulatory developments that may impact the business and provide recommendations for implementation or risk mitigation.

Your Profile

• Bachelor’s Degree in Law with approximately 5 years of professional experience in corporate, commercial, operational, regulatory, compliance, or related legal functions.
• Solid experience in contract drafting, review, negotiation, and lifecycle management.
• Experience identifying, assessing, and mitigating legal and business risks within a corporate environment.
• Experience handling disputes, claims, litigation matters, investigations, or coordination with external law firms.
• Strong knowledge of applicable legal and regulatory frameworks relevant to business operations.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain legal matters in a practical and business-oriented manner.
• Strong stakeholder management and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across multiple functions and levels of the organization.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and deliver solutions in a fast-paced environment.
• Intermediate to advanced English proficiency, including legal and business communication.
• Experience supporting business operations, commercial functions, compliance programs, regulatory matters, or strategic projects is considered an advantage.
