Job summary

Mastercard is seeking a Lead Site Reliability Engineer to guide the Digital Enablement Services team. You will strengthen the MDES platform, bridge gaps between software engineering and operations, and drive reliability across deployments.

The role demands expertise in cloud-native architectures, container platforms, and robust monitoring. You will mentor engineers and contribute to automation, capacity planning, and incident prevention at scale.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Systems, Information Technology or related. Equivalent experience is acceptable.
• Advanced knowledge of web applications and distributed systems infrastructure and architecture.
• Business-level English proficiency is a must.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with Dynatrace, Splunk, Grafana, Prometheus, or similar monitoring/observability tools.
• Interest and ability to learn new coding languages, frameworks, and paradigms as needed.
• IT experience including thought-leadership and relationship-building across large-scale organizations.
• Advanced knowledge of Software Engineering Concepts and Methodologies.
• Experience with static analysis tools to improve software quality.
• Knowledge of CI/CD platforms (Jenkins, Bamboo, Concourse, etc.).
• Displays initiative and ownership.
• Detail-oriented and customer-obsessed.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize efforts.
• Ability to pick up new technologies quickly and learn on-the-go.
• Ability to work within a geographically distributed team.
• Strong collaboration skills with cross-functional teams.
• Ability to provide positive customer service to external and internal partners.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical initiatives of site reliability support services before they go live.
• Increase, maintain and communicate service metrics after go-live.
• Scale systems sustainably through automation and performance tuning.
• Maintain services after launch by monitoring health and performance.
• Review production incidents to drive preventative solutions.
• Manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables.
• Create and maintain technology roadmaps.
• Automate tasks wherever possible.
• Build, manage and maintain dashboards reflecting system health.
• Coach and mentor technical talent across disciplines.
