Job summary

Capgemini Engineering in Mexico seeks a Senior Sheet Metal Metallurgist to act as an internal consultant, focusing on long-term reliability, forensic science and value engineering in sheet metal applications for vehicle and powertrain contexts.

The role coordinates with global metallurgical groups, leads root-cause analyses, reviews drawings, and develops global sheet metal standards while collaborating with design engineers and suppliers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Metallurgical Engineering or related Engineering field from an ABET accredited university.
• Demonstrated leadership experience and project management skills.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in sheet metal engineering role.
• Board metallurgic expertise in multiple alloys of sheet metal.
• Deep metallurgic understanding of how forming and manufacturing processes impact steel/aluminum alloys.
• Proven ability to handle multiple projects and tasks.
• Strong communication skills with all levels.
• Interpersonal skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams.
• Deep understanding of formability, discrepancies and causation/remediation.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with global sheet metal and metallurgy groups to improve efficiency and cross-region collaboration.
• Lead root cause determination and closure via Metallurgical Engineering assessments and lab analysis.
• Support drawing reviews and sign-offs with sheet metal expertise.
• Facilitate knowledge transfer of sheet metal core competence across the enterprise via training.
• Develop and maintain Chrysler sheet metal standards.
• Collaborate with Stellantis design engineers and sheet metal suppliers on materials and specs.
• Coordinate efforts among Materials, Vehicle, Powertrain, Quality, Stamping, and suppliers.
• Contribute to Engineering Product team initiatives with sheet metal expertise for DVP&R.
• Work with Supplier Quality and Regional Materials Engineering to develop global sheet metal strategies.
• Organize and manage short/long term development projects related to sheet metal applications.
