Job summary

Capgemini Engineering is seeking a Science-Focused Sheet Metal Metallurgist to act as a technical internal consultant, focusing on long-term reliability, forensic science, and value engineering. You will coordinate with global teams, lead root-cause analyses, and support drawing reviews while developing material standards for vehicle and powertrain applications.

The ideal candidate has a BS in Metallurgical Engineering, 5+ years in sheet metal, and strong cross-functional communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Metallurgical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in sheet metal engineering.
• Board metallurgic expertise in multiple alloys of sheet metal.
• Deep metallurgical understanding of how forming and manufacturing processes impact function.
• Strong communication and cross-functional teamwork.
• Preferred: Master’s or Doctorate in Materials Engineering.
• Experience in metallurgical analysis and fracture mechanics.
• Experience leading or contributing to consortia or government-funded research (USCAR, A/SP, DOE, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with global sheet metal and metallurgy groups to improve efficiency and collaboration across regions and functions.
• Lead root-cause determination and closure via metallurgical engineering assessments and laboratory analysis.
• Support drawing reviews and sign-offs with sheet metal expertise.
• Facilitate knowledge transfer of sheet metal core competencies across the enterprise through training.
• Develop and maintain sheet metal standards.
• Collaborate with Stellantis design engineers and sheet metal suppliers on material specifications for vehicle and powertrain applications.
• Coordinate efforts between Materials Engineering, Vehicle Engineering, Powertrain Engineering, Quality, Stamping, and sheet metal suppliers.
• Participate in Engineering Product team initiatives by providing sheet metal expertise for DVP&R developments and reviews.
• Work with Supplier Quality and Regional Materials Engineering to develop global sheet metal strategies.
• Organize and manage short/long-term development projects related to sheet metal applications.
