Job summary

Capgemini Engineering seeks a Trainee Java Engineer to join hybrid teams in CDMX. You will contribute to backend and full-stack development using Java, REST APIs, and OOP concepts, while exploring AI-assisted development and AI agent coordination with mentorship from senior engineers.

You will validate AI-generated outputs, learn to refine agents, and gain exposure to microservices and cloud environments in a collaborative, inclusive setting.

Qualifications

• Strong Java fundamentals and REST API design.
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools.
• Understanding of LLM limitations and validation of AI outputs.
• Knowledge of unit testing and basic microservices architecture.
• Familiarity with at least one cloud provider (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• English proficiency at B2+ level, both written and spoken.

Responsibilities

• Work in client project teams where AI agents are part of the SDLC.
• Build software using AI-assisted development.
• Contribute to backend Java or full-stack development with REST APIs and integrations, with mentoring.
• Use and coordinate AI agents to complete well-scoped tasks.
• Validate and improve AI-generated output and refine agents as needed.

Your Role

• Work in client project teams where AI agents are part of the everyday SDLC.
• Build software using AI‑assisted development.
• Contribute to the development of solutions addressing real business problems, supported by your team, including backend Java or full‑stack development, REST APIs, and integrations, with mentoring from experienced software engineers.
• Use and coordinate AI agents to complete well‑scoped tasks.
• Ensure quality by validating and improving AI‑generated output by using e.g. evals to verify correctness, be able to refine, reject or improve the agents’ output.

Your Profile

• Curiosity, initiative and willingness to solve real business problems with support from the team.
• Core programming skills in Java, with REST APIs and OOP concepts.
• Experience in AI-assisted development, including tools such as GitHub Copilot or AI agents.
• Basic understanding of how LLMs work, where they may fail, and ability to validate AI-generated output.
• Knowledge of Unit testing.
• Knowledge of microservices.
• Knowledge of any cloud provider (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• English at B2+ level, spoken and written.
