Job summary

Banco Plata seeks a senior lawyer to build and lead its legal collections function for Mexico. You will redesign processes for automation, engage courts and regulators, and manage a small team with a focus on efficiency and outcomes.

In this hands-on leadership role, you will own metrics such as recovered amount, cost per case, and cycle times while coordinating with Collections, Compliance and Product leadership. Hybrid work from Polanco reflects our approach.

Qualifications

• Must have a Mexican law degree with cédula profesional in good standing.
• Solid experience in mercantile litigation and/or debt recovery, typically 7+ years, including time in a leadership or directive capacity.
• Deep practical knowledge of how collections cases move through Mexican courts: what gets admitted, what gets rejected, where time is lost.

Responsibilities

• Redesign the collection process for scale by partnering with product, analytics and engineering to automate status tracking, document generation, and a single system of record.
• Build relationships with courts and authorities; lead discussions with court directors, CNBV, and regulators to improve admission rates and standardize handling.
• Manage external counsel and providers (law firms, notaries, POA lifecycle) with focus on cost per case and turnaround.
• Lead and grow a small team of lawyers and legal assistants; define responsibilities, set KPIs, review performance and hire as the function scales.
• Own the numbers: report monthly on recovered amount, recovery-to-cost ratio, case cycle time, and court admission rate; propose investments.
