New Fortress Energy seeks an experienced FLNG Electrical Engineer to be based in Altamira, Mexico. The role focuses on ensuring reliable electrical systems, supporting site projects, and collaborating with Operations to optimize uptime.

You will help manage high- and medium-voltage equipment and ensure compliance with safety standards. The ideal candidate has 10+ years in petroleum or LNG facilities, deep knowledge of power distribution, IEC 61850, and arc flash safety, and can lead electrical

Formación

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 10 years in petroleum/chemical facilities with LNG experience preferred.
  • Experience with low, medium, and high voltage systems and electrical equipment.
  • Familiar with IEC 61850, arc flash standards (IEEE 1584) and NFPA 70E safety.

Responsabilidades

  • Support operation of electrical power systems and equipment.
  • Troubleshoot electrical problems with Operations and Maintenance teams.
  • Provide electrical input for site capital projects and ensure standards compliance.
  • Support control strategies, distribution safety, and maintenance activities.
  • Participate in Process Hazard Analyses and startup commissioning.
  • Monitor reliability metrics and drive site reliability improvements.

The Role:

We are seeking a FLNG Electrical Engineer to be based in Altamira, Mexico. We are entrepreneurial, fast-moving, and motivated by a desire to change the way that energy and electricity are delivered around the world. We are looking for a motivated, highly experienced individual with shared beliefs and passion to come and help drive the journey.

What you will do:
  • Support overall operation of electrical power systems and electrical equipment.
  • Work closely with Operations and Maintenance personnel to troubleshoot electrical problems (including medium to high voltage equipment). Provide second-level troubleshooting when equipment issues are beyond the technical knowledge of the Electrical Technician.
  • Act as electrical resource with Engineering Department for site capital projects to ensure that site policies, procedures, standards and specifications, and operational needs are met.
  • Provide technical support and assistance to all units on issues such as control strategies, electrical distribution safety and maintenance.
  • Participate in area Process Hazard Analysis/Reviews when required.
  • Provide checkout and start-up support of facilities to meet production and business needs.
  • Responsible for ensuring electrical aspects of all new, modified or altered equipment meet design criteria, internal standards, and external regulatory requirements.
  • Provide Operations with technical support on chronic reliability issues. Implement site reliability improvement initiatives.
  • Provide input to all proposed Management of Changes to ensure changes do not conflict with industry standards (as well as site’s reliability objectives) while ensuring that both personnel and equipment risks in their areas have been assessed and addressed prior to implementing the changes.
  • Establish and monitor reliability metrics to monitor electrical equipment health and performance (uptime, MTBR, MTTR, etc.).
  • Support site on electrical classification analysis.
  • Support, maintain, and improve site electrical distribution systems.
What you bring:
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of 10 years of related experience in petroleum or chemical manufacturing facility with LNG facility experience preferred.
  • Experience with low, medium, and high voltage electrical systems and equipment.
  • Experience with Electrical Control and Monitoring Systems
  • Demonstrated knowledge of load shedding and load shedding sequence. Thorough understanding of electrical distribution systems and high, medium, and low voltage electrical equipment.
  • Able to direct activities of electrical contractors and vendors.
  • Working knowledge of IEC 61850 protocol
  • Able to navigate the electrical system models.
  • Working knowledge of Arc Flash standards such as IEEE 1584 and Electrical Safe Work practices (NFPA 70E)
  • Familiar with NEC (NFPA 70), API RP 500 (Area Classification) and OSHA electrical safety requirements
  • Familiar with industry maintenance standards such as ANSI/NETA MTS-2019: Maintenance Testing Specifications for Electrical Power Equipment
