The Role

We are seeking an experienced Rotating Equipment Engineer to work offshore aboard the company’s Fast LNG facility on a rotational schedule of 21 consecutive days on duty followed by 21 consecutive days off. The position requires the employee to live and work aboard the offshore facility throughout each 21-day assignment. Crew changes, travel, and work schedules will be based on operational requirements, weather conditions, and marine transportation availability. The role may periodically require travel to the Houston office, vendor facilities, repair shops, or other company locations. The Rotating Equipment Engineer will provide onsite technical leadership and engineering support for the facility’s critical rotating equipment, including gas turbines, refrigerant compressors, feed gas booster compressors, boil-off gas compressors, pumps, fans, gearboxes, and associated auxiliary systems. This position will focus on equipment reliability, condition monitoring, troubleshooting, defect elimination, maintenance strategy, outage planning, and continuous improvement. The successful candidate must be a hands‑on, field-oriented engineer who is comfortable working in an offshore operating environment. The individual will work closely with Operations, Maintenance, Reliability, Engineering, OEMs, and contractors to evaluate equipment performance, identify developing problems, lead failure investigations, and implement practical solutions that improve safety, availability, reliability, and lifecycle cost.

What you will do

• Provide direct, onsite engineering coverage during the assigned 21-day offshore rotation, including support for equipment trips, abnormal operating conditions, emergency repairs, startups, shutdowns, and planned outages.
• Participate in the offshore duty and emergency‑response structure as assigned and remain available to respond to critical rotating equipment issues outside normal working hours while onboard the facility.
• Complete effective rotational handovers documenting equipment condition, active failures, temporary repairs, outstanding technical issues, planned maintenance, operational risks, and required follow‑up actions.
• Coordinate with the opposite‑rotation engineer and onshore support teams to ensure continuity of technical ownership and rotating equipment priorities between crew rotations.

What you bring

• Willingness and ability to work offshore on a fixed rotational schedule of 21 consecutive days on duty followed by 21 consecutive days off.
• Ability to live and work onboard an offshore FLNG facility for the full duration of each 21-day assignment.
• Ability to work extended offshore shifts and respond to urgent equipment problems outside regularly scheduled hours when operationally required.
• Willingness to travel by marine vessel, helicopter, or other company‑approved transportation to and from the offshore facility.
• Ability to meet all company, flag‑state, coastal‑state, medical, security, immigration, and offshore training requirements necessary for assignment to the facility.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline from an accredited institution.
• A minimum of seven years of rotating equipment engineering, maintenance, reliability, or technical support experience within LNG, oil and gas, petrochemical, refining, power generation, marine, or another heavy industrial environment.
• Strong working knowledge of gas turbines, centrifugal and reciprocating compressors, pumps, fans, gearboxes, couplings, bearings, lubrication systems, dry gas seals, and associated auxiliary systems.
• Direct experience with aero‑derivative or industrial gas turbines; experience with GE/Baker Hughes LM6000 PF+ and Siemens SGT‑400 equipment is strongly preferred.
• Experience supporting critical process compressors, including mixed‑refrigerant, feed gas booster, and boil‑off gas compressor applications, is strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot vibration, bearing failures, seal failures, lubrication issues, alignment problems, performance degradation, abnormal temperatures, and other rotating equipment conditions.
• Experience with predictive and condition‑monitoring technologies, including vibration analysis, lubricating oil analysis, thermography, borescope inspections, performance trending, and remote monitoring systems.
• Experience developing preventive and predictive maintenance strategies, inspection plans, overhaul scopes, and condition‑based maintenance requirements.
• Experience leading or participating in root cause failure analyses and translating findings into practical and sustainable corrective actions.
• Working knowledge of rotating equipment installation, shaft alignment, balancing, commissioning, performance testing, inspection, repair, overhaul, and return‑to‑service requirements.
• Familiarity with applicable API, ASME, ISO, NFPA, marine, and offshore standards and recommended practices.
• Experience reviewing OEM documentation, repair proposals, inspection findings, engineering drawings, equipment data sheets, service bulletins, and technical reports.
• Experience using CMMS applications to manage maintenance history, equipment records, inspection findings, bills of material, and spare‑parts information.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, organizational, communication, and technical‑writing skills.
• Level 2 vibration analysis and Lube oil analysis MLA 1
• Good understanding of alignment, both laser and dial indictor
• Ability to calculate and plot system curves and performance points for compressor and pumps.
• Ability to work independently offshore while coordinating effectively with technicians, operators, facility leadership, OEM representatives, contractors, and onshore engineering teams.
• Offshore, marine, LNG, or cryogenic facility experience is strongly preferred.
• Professional Engineer registration or relevant rotating equipment, vibration analysis, reliability, or condition‑monitoring certification is a plus.
• Bilingual English/Spanish capability is a plus.

Work Conditions

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to stand, walk, sit, climb stairs, work at height above ground on stairs and catwalks, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk or hear, smell, type and write.
• Must be able to board a ship via a gangway, climb to the top of a tank (200+ steps), scale vertical steel ladder up to forty feet or more in height and lift and move objects weighing up to 30 pounds.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work indoors & outdoors, and be exposed to year‑around weather conditions, ocean environment, and noise. There is a considerable number of outdoor activities involved.
