The Standard, Mexico City is seeking an Engineering Supervisor to oversee daily engineering and maintenance across the property, ensuring guestrooms and public areas are safe, functional, and well maintained.

You will lead the engineering team, coordinate with other departments, monitor building systems, and uphold safety and energy conservation standards. A hands‑on leader with experience in luxury hospitality and Spanish fluency will thrive here.

Formación

• Experience as an Engineering Supervisor or similar in hospitality (luxury preferable).
• Strong knowledge of building maintenance and engineering systems.
• Hands-on leader with ability to coordinate across departments.

Responsabilidades

• Supervise daily engineering and maintenance operations across the hotel.
• Lead the Engineering team and promote a safe and collaborative working environment.
• Respond to maintenance requests and guest concerns with urgency and professionalism.
• Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance in guestrooms, public areas, back-of-house, and facilities.
• Coordinate with Front Office, Housekeeping, Security, F&B, and other departments to minimize disruptions.
• Monitor electrical, plumbing, HVAC, mechanical, and building systems.
• Maintain records of work orders, inspections, repairs, incidents, and equipment status.
• Support contractors and external service providers, ensuring work is completed safely and to standard.
• Assist with energy, water, and resource conservation initiatives.
• Support emergency procedures, fire and life-safety systems, and business continuity protocols.
• Oversee gardens, green spaces, planters, and exterior spaces.
• Apply gardening knowledge including irrigation, pruning, planting, fertilization, pest control.
• Coordinate with gardening suppliers or landscaping teams as needed.
• Complete clear handovers between shifts and communicate outstanding issues.
• Identify opportunities to improve reliability, efficiency, and appearance of the hotel.

The Opportunity

As our Engineering Supervisor, you’ll support the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the hotel, ensuring that our guestrooms, public areas, back-of-house spaces, equipment, and gardens are safe, functional, and well maintained. You’ll work closely with colleagues across the property to solve problems quickly, prevent disruptions, and keep every detail performing at its best.

What You'll Do

• Supervise daily engineering and maintenance operations across the hotel.
• Lead, support, and coordinate the Engineering team, promoting a safe and collaborative working environment.
• Respond to maintenance requests, equipment failures, and guest-related concerns with urgency and professionalism.
• Carry out and supervise preventive and corrective maintenance in guestrooms, public areas, back-of-house areas, and facilities.
• Coordinate with Front Office, Housekeeping, Security, Food & Beverage, and other departments to minimize operational disruptions.
• Monitor the performance and condition of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, mechanical, kitchen, laundry, and building systems.
• Ensure that all maintenance work complies with safety, environmental, and hotel standards.
• Maintain accurate records of work orders, inspections, repairs, incidents, and equipment status.
• Support contractors and external service providers, ensuring work is completed safely and to the required standard.
• Assist with energy, water, and resource conservation initiatives.
• Support emergency procedures, fire and life-safety systems, and business continuity protocols.
• Oversee the appearance and maintenance of gardens, green areas, planters, and exterior spaces.
• Apply practical knowledge of gardening, including irrigation, pruning, planting, fertilization, pest control, and general plant care.
• Coordinate with gardening suppliers or external landscaping teams when required.
• Complete clear and thorough handovers between shifts and communicate outstanding issues effectively.
• Identify opportunities to improve the reliability, efficiency, and appearance of the hotel.

Qualifications

What You'll Bring

• Previous experience as an Engineering Supervisor, Maintenance Supervisor, Chief Technician, or in a similar hotel engineering role.
• Experience in a luxury lifestyle hotel, high-energy hospitality environment, residential property, or comparable operation.
• Strong knowledge of building maintenance, engineering systems, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Practical experience with electrical, plumbing, HVAC, mechanical, and general building systems.
• Knowledge of gardening, landscaping, irrigation systems, plant care, pruning, fertilization, and pest control.
• The ability to lead a team, prioritize tasks, and remain calm under pressure.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
• A hands-on approach and genuine pride in maintaining spaces to a high standard.
• Knowledge of health, safety, fire prevention, and environmental procedures.
• Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, holidays, and respond to operational needs.
• Fluency in Spanish; English communication skills are an advantage.
