The Standard, Mexico City is seeking an Engineering Supervisor to oversee daily engineering and maintenance operations. You will lead the Engineering team, respond to maintenance requests with urgency, and ensure all work meets safety and hotel standards.

You will coordinate with departments to minimize disruptions and oversee both interior and exterior systems, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and building services. A hands-on, proactive leader is preferred.

Formación

• Experience leading an engineering or maintenance team in a hotel or luxury property.
• Strong knowledge of building maintenance, electrical/plumbing/HVAC systems.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, stay calm under pressure, and manage safety procedures.

Responsabilidades

• Supervise daily engineering and maintenance operations across the hotel.
• Lead and coordinate the Engineering team to ensure safe, efficient operations.
• Respond to maintenance requests and guest concerns with urgency and professionalism.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance in guestrooms and public areas.
• Coordinate with Front Office, Housekeeping, Security, F&B to minimize disruptions.
• Monitor performance of building systems and ensure compliance with safety standards.
• Maintain accurate records of work orders, inspections, and repairs.
• Support contractors and external service providers, ensuring quality work.
• Contribute to energy, water, and resource conservation initiatives.
• Assist with emergency procedures and life-safety systems.
• Oversee gardens and exterior spaces, including planting and irrigation when required.
• Communicate clearly during handovers and identify improvements.

We're looking for an Engineering Supervisor to help keep the hotel running safely, smoothly, and beautifully—while preserving the distinctive spirit of The Standard. We’re searching for someone hands-on, resourceful, and confident leading a team through the unexpected.

What You'll Do

• Supervise daily engineering and maintenance operations across the hotel.
• Lead, support, and coordinate the Engineering team, promoting a safe and collaborative working environment.
• Respond to maintenance requests, equipment failures, and guest-related concerns with urgency and professionalism.
• Carry out and supervise preventive and corrective maintenance in guestrooms, public areas, back-of-house areas, and facilities.
• Coordinate with Front Office, Housekeeping, Security, Food & Beverage, and other departments to minimize operational disruptions.
• Monitor the performance and condition of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, mechanical, kitchen, laundry, and building systems.
• Ensure that all maintenance work complies with safety, environmental, and hotel standards.
• Maintain accurate records of work orders, inspections, repairs, incidents, and equipment status.
• Support contractors and external service providers, ensuring work is completed safely and to the required standard.
• Assist with energy, water, and resource conservation initiatives.
• Support emergency procedures, fire and life-safety systems, and business continuity protocols.
• Oversee the appearance and maintenance of gardens, green areas, planters, and exterior spaces.
• Apply practical knowledge of gardening, including irrigation, pruning, planting, fertilization, pest control, and general plant care.
• Coordinate with gardening suppliers or external landscaping teams when required.
• Complete clear and thorough handovers between shifts and communicate outstanding issues effectively.
• Identify opportunities to improve the reliability, efficiency, and appearance of the hotel.

Qualifications

What You'll Bring

• Previous experience as an Engineering Supervisor, Maintenance Supervisor, Chief Technician, or in a similar hotel engineering role.
• Experience in a luxury lifestyle hotel, high-energy hospitality environment, residential property, or comparable operation.
• Strong knowledge of building maintenance, engineering systems, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Practical experience with electrical, plumbing, HVAC, mechanical, and general building systems.
• Knowledge of gardening, landscaping, irrigation systems, plant care, pruning, fertilization, and pest control.
• The ability to lead a team, prioritize tasks, and remain calm under pressure.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
• A hands-on approach and genuine pride in maintaining spaces to a high standard.
• Knowledge of health, safety, fire prevention, and environmental procedures.
• Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, holidays, and respond to operational needs.
• Fluency in Spanish; English communication skills are an advantage.
• A curious, proactive, and personable approach that feels right at home at The Standard.
