Job summary

ABB in San Luis Potosí, Mexico, seeks a Proposal Engineer to craft bids, estimates and quotations aligned with customer specifications to sustain market competitiveness and high margins. You will coordinate with sales, engineering and product teams to assemble comprehensive proposals.

You will work with Salesforce, SAP and Power BI, developing well-documented tenders with complete costs and appropriate trading conditions. English proficiency is required.

Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to create and complete bids, estimations, and quotations based on customer specifications, requirements, or budget to support market competitiveness and high margins for the company. Each day, you will maintain and improve the balance between all ABB units and customers in your area of responsibility. You will also showcase your skills by collecting and collating the information required to prepare proposals, including both technical and cost elements.

The work model for the role is: #L-Hybrid

This role is contributing to the ELDS Low Voltage Switchgear in North America, South America and Mexico.

You will be mainly accountable for:

• Formulating competitive bids, estimates, and quotations by considering the best available product mix and appropriate technical and commercial aspects for each situation.
• Creating well-documented tenders in a timely manner and with an appropriate level of detail, including full and accurate costs.
• Managing the preparation of technical, financial, and, if required, project management aspects of the bid, estimate, and quotation, indicating prices and trading conditions.
• Ensuring that inputs for editing activities related to bid, estimate, and quotation preparation are provided in a timely manner and in accordance with the established quality procedures.

Qualifications for the role:

You are highly skilled in working with Salesforce, SAP, Microsoft Office Suite, Power BI, proposal management tools, and commercial quotation methodologies within the electrical distribution and low voltage switchgear market.

You have 3-5 years of experience in proposal engineering, applications engineering, sales support, electrical distribution systems, or project estimating.

Preferred: Experience working as a Proposal Engineer, Applications Engineer, Sales Support Engineer, or Estimator with low voltage switchgear, motor control centers (MCCs), power distribution equipment, or electrical systems.

You are committed to customer focus, collaboration, problem solving, continuous improvement, and effective communication.

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.

You are comfortable communicating in English (required).

You hold current work authorization to work in Mexico (or applicable location) and any required visa/work permit as applicable.
