Job summary

ABB is seeking a Machinery Safety & Industrial Specialist in San Luis Potosí to lead machine safety standards, ergonomic initiatives, and industrial hygiene programs in a world-class manufacturing environment.

You will apply in-depth HSE knowledge to protect employees, drive risk management, and ensure compliance across ABB’s value chain. The role partners with Engineering, Maintenance, Production, and EHS for safe manufacturing practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in machinery safety, ergonomics, or industrial safety in manufacturing.
• Intermediate English level for global team interaction.
• Experience leading technical projects and coordinating multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong knowledge of machine risk assessments based on international standards.
• Experience with machinery installation, maintenance, or equipment validation.
• Knowledge of ISO 45001/14001/12100 is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead the implementation of machine safety standards and ergonomics programs.
• Coordinate machine risk assessments in line with ISO standards.
• Approve safety requirements before commissioning new equipment or changes.
• Drive projects for installation, modification, maintenance, and validation of equipment.

Your Role: Own the Challenge

We are looking for an experienced Machinery Safety & Industrial Specialist to lead the implementation of machine safety standards, ergonomic initiatives, and industrial hygiene programs within a world-class manufacturing environment.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute to improving Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) performance in your assigned area of responsibility to cultivate a high-performance culture with a strong focus on HSE. Each day, you will support the business by applying in-depth HSE knowledge and offering solutions and advice. You will also showcase your expertise by ensuring effective risk management through HSE excellence along the ABB value chain.

This is a leadership position responsible for ensuring legal compliance, protecting our employees, and driving safe manufacturing practices across the plant. The role partners closely with Engineering, Maintenance, Production, and EHS to guarantee that safety is built into every stage of our operations.

This role is contributing to the Electrification Distributed Systems in San Luis Potosi, S.L.P.

You will be mainly accountable for:

• Reporting HSE incidents to the management and relevant stakeholders and taking appropriate actions.
• Facilitating, assisting, and providing guidance on incident investigations to learn better ways for mitigating risks.
• Providing feedback to the management and employees on lessons learned and best practices from within their own unit and across ABB.
• Supporting and driving behavioral change through the local implementation of group-wide and business-specific performance improvement programs and practices.
• Coordinate machine risk assessments in accordance with international ISO standards.
• Approve machinery safety and ergonomic requirements before commissioning new equipment or production line modifications.
• Lead projects related to the installation, modification, maintenance, and validation of manufacturing equipment.
• Ensure compliance with legal requirements and corporate standards regarding machinery safety, ergonomics, and industrial hygiene.
• Identify and implement actions to reduce machinery and ergonomic risks.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support operational excellence and accident prevention.
• Promote continuous improvement initiatives focused on workplace safety and employee well-being.

Qualifications For The Role

• Bachelor’s degree
• Minimum 3 years of experience in machinery safety, ergonomics, or industrial safety within a manufacturing environment.
• Medium English level (interaction with global teams).
• Experience leading technical projects and coordinating multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong knowledge of machine risk assessments based on international standards.
• Experience with machinery installation, maintenance, or equipment validation projects.
• Knowledge of Management of Change is considered a strong advantage.
• Knowledge of ISO (45001/14001/12100)
