Cognizant is seeking an experienced Production Control Analyst to monitor and manage enterprise mainframe production environments, including real-time z/OS console monitoring and Control-M workload management.

The role involves batch processing support, incident resolution, and collaboration with multiple IT teams to ensure uninterrupted production services in a 24x7 environment.

• Operate Mainframe Console and monitor dashboards.
• Track and respond to system messages and alerts.
• Escalate issues per procedures during incidents.
• Support IPL activities and system startup/shutdown.
• Monitor production availability and key infrastructure.
• Provide Level-1 support and initiate recovery when needed.
• Monitor and manage Control-M batch schedules.
• Ensure jobs run within service windows and handle dependencies.
• Analyze batch failures and perform restarts per procedures.
• Coordinate with application teams during batch issues.
• Validate successful completion of batch cycles.
• Handle file transfers and batch scheduling administration.
• Maintain calendars, schedules, and job dependencies.
• Follow change management for schedule changes.
• Support migration of schedules across dev/test/prod.
• Validate new schedules during deployments.
• Identify and respond to production incidents and perform triage.
• Create and manage incident tickets per SLA.
• Coordinate bridge calls during major incidents.
• Assist root cause analysis and problem management.
• Support disaster recovery testing and execution.
• Participate in recovery of failed jobs and outages.

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Production Control Analyst responsible for monitoring and managing enterprise mainframe production environments. The role includes real-time z/OS console monitoring, Control-M workload management, batch processing support, operational event monitoring, and incident resolution activities supporting business-critical applications running in 24x7 production environments.

The analyst will work closely with Application Support, System Programming, Database, Network, Security, Middleware, and Business Operations teams to ensure timely completion of batch workloads and uninterrupted production services.

Responsibilities

• Mainframe Console Operations
• Monitor z/OS system consoles and operational dashboards.
• Identify, analyze, and respond to system messages, alerts, and abnormal operating conditions.
• Escalate system and application issues according to established operational procedures.
• Support IPL activities and system startup/shutdown processes.
• Monitor availability of production systems and critical infrastructure components.
• Perform Level-1 operational support and initiate recovery procedures when required.
• Control-M Batch Monitoring
• Monitor daily, weekly, monthly, and year-end batch processing workloads using Control-M.
• Ensure scheduled jobs execute successfully within defined service windows.
• Monitor job dependencies, resource constraints, and scheduling conditions.
• Analyze batch failures and perform restart or recovery activities as per documented procedures.
• Coordinate with application support teams during batch processing issues.
• Validate successful completion of business-critical batch cycles.

• Create and maintain batch schedules within Control-M.
• Manage calendars, scheduling tables, cyclic jobs, and job dependencies.
• Implement schedule changes according to change management processes.

• Identify and respond to production incidents affecting batch processing and system operations.
• Perform initial triage and diagnostic activities.
• Create and manage incident tickets according to SLA requirements.
• Coordinate bridge calls during major incidents.
• Support root cause analysis and problem management activities.
• Operational Recovery Support
• Execute documented recovery procedures for failed jobs and application outages.
• Monitor restart and recovery processes.
• Coordinate with technical support teams to restore business services.
• Knowledge of Incident, Problem, and Change Management processes.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively during production incidents and escalation calls.
• Experience working in a 24x7 operational support environment.
