Placements24 is seeking a knowledgeable Sommelier Certificado for a luxury Cancún resort. You will curate a wine program, advise guests, and manage the cellar with a focus on Mexican wines and international varietals.

This role requires formal sommelier certification, at least three years in a senior wine role, excellent tasting ability, and strong service skills. You will train staff, host tastings, and help optimize wine costs while delivering exceptional guest experiences.

Qualifications

• Certification from a recognized sommelier association.
• Extensive knowledge of global wine regions, grape varietals, and winemaking techniques.
• Specific expertise and passion for Mexican wines is essential.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Sommelier or in a senior wine-related role.
• Excellent sensory evaluation skills and palate.
• Strong understanding of food and wine pairing principles.
• Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
• Experience with wine inventory management systems.

Responsabilités

• Develop and maintain an exceptional wine list, focusing on quality, variety, and value, with a significant focus on Mexican wines.
• Provide expert wine recommendations to guests, guiding them through selections based on their preferences and dining choices.
• Manage all aspects of the wine cellar, including inventory control, purchasing, storage, and aging.
• Conduct regular wine inventory and stock takes to ensure accuracy and prevent discrepancies.
• Train restaurant staff on wine knowledge, proper service techniques, and pairings.
• Organize and host wine tastings, dinners, and educational events for guests and staff.
• Ensure proper wine service standards are met, including temperature, glassware, and decanting procedures.
• Stay up-to-date with global wine trends, new producers, and emerging wine regions.
• Manage wine costs and contribute to achieving departmental profit goals.
• Foster relationships with wine distributors and suppliers to secure high-quality selections.
