Job summary

AVL Software and Functions GmbH in Mexico City is seeking a Vehicle Powertrain Calibration Engineer to conduct calibration activities on engine test beds and vehicle benches. You will address ECU-related issues and adapt calibration data to meet emissions, drivability, and performance targets.

The role requires knowledge of internal combustion engines and hybrid powertrains, plus English proficiency; German is a plus. AVL offers medical insurance, training, annual bonuses, and family benefits.

Qualifications

• Degree in the field of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, mechatronics, physics or comparable studies.
• Knowledge of automotive electronics desirable.
• Knowledge of automotive communication systems (CAN) desirable.
• Ability to investigate root cause of issues, analyze data and present testing results.

Responsibilities

• To solve any ECU (Engine Control Unit) related issues during engine test bed testing of internal combustion engines and hybrid powertrains.
• To adapt calibration data to fulfil emissions limits, drivability concerns, fuel consumption targets, performance targets, etc...
• To steer development and implementation of improvement measures to avoid ECU related issues and more generally to improve KPIs for engine or hybrid system operation.

Vehicle Powertrain Calibration Engineer

Joining the AVL team in México, you will be responsible to carry out vehicle powertrain calibration activities in engine test bed and vehicle test benches.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

• To solve any ECU (Engine Control Unit) related issues during engine test bed testing of internal combustion engines and hybrid powertrains.


• To adapt calibration data to fulfil emissions limits, drivability concerns, fuel consumption targets, performance targets, etc...


• To steer development and implementation of improvement measures to avoid ECU (Engine Control Unit) related issues and more generally to improve KPIs for engine or hybrid system operation.

YOUR PROFILE:

• Degree in the field of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, mechatronics, physics or comparable studies


• Genuine interest and knowledge in internal combustion engines and hybrid powertrains


• Knowledge in automotive electronics is desirable


• Knowledge of automotive communication systems (CAN, etc…) is desirable


• Ability to investigate root cause of issues, analyze data and formally present and report testing results.


• High level of coordination, communication and team skills


• Good knowledge of English


• German desirable, but not compulsory
