Job summary

AVL is seeking a motivated Big Data Engineer in Mexico to analyze large vehicle testing datasets and develop data solutions in collaboration with Barcelona-based teams. You will build ETL/ELT pipelines, create dashboards, and automate reporting to support OEM validation projects.

The role emphasizes Python-based data processing, statistical analyses, and cross-functional work across international teams, with opportunities for professional growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Data Science, Computer Science or a related technical field.
• Programming in Python; familiarity with data-processing libraries such as Pandas/NumPy.
• Knowledge of statistics, data modelling, ML/AI concepts and data visualization tools.
• Experience with SQL and version-control (Git); cloud environment knowledge is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain big data processing and analysis tools using Python.
• Process, clean, transform and organize datasets from vehicle testing and validation.
• Perform statistical analyses to identify trends and anomalies.
• Develop data visualizations, dashboards and technical reports.
• Collaborate with AVL engineers and customer teams in Barcelona to translate requirements into data-driven solutions.
• Automate repetitive data processing, analysis and reporting tasks.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of testing and validation processes through data insights.
• Support scalable data workflows and analytical solutions.
• Participate in coordination with international and customer teams.
