AVL Software and Functions GmbH in Mexico City seeks a motivated Big Data Engineer to analyze large datasets from vehicle testing, develop data-driven solutions and create dashboards for international teams.

You will collaborate with data scientists and engineers across Europe to translate requirements into scalable analytics, automate reporting, and contribute to ongoing improvements in testing and validation processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a technical field such as Engineering, Data Science or Computer Science.
• Proficiency in Python with experience using Pandas, NumPy for data processing and analysis.
• Knowledge of statistics, data modelling, ML/AI concepts and data science fundamentals.
• Experience creating data visualizations with tools like Power BI, Matplotlib or Plotly.
• Basic SQL and version control (Git); familiarity with cloud data environments is advantageous.

AVL is looking for a motivated Big Data Engineer to join our team in Mexico and contribute to vehicle development and validation projects for an automotive OEM based in Barcelona.

The successful candidate will analyze and interpret large datasets generated during vehicle testing and validation activities. Working closely with data scientists, engineers and customer teams in an international environment, they will contribute to developing big data solutions, identifying trends and anomalies, and preparing meaningful reports and visualizations.

This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop professionally in data engineering, analytics and data science while contributing to real automotive projects for a leading OEM.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop and maintain big data processing and analysis tools using Python.
• Process, clean, transform and organize datasets generated during vehicle testing and validation activities using ETL, ELT or similar methodologies.
• Perform statistical analyses to identify trends, patterns, correlations and anomalies.
• Develop data visualizations, dashboards and technical reports.
• Collaborate with AVL engineers, data specialists and customer teams based in Barcelona to understand technical requirements and translate them into data-driven solutions.
• Automate repetitive data-processing, analysis and reporting tasks.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of testing and validation processes through data-driven insights.
• Support the definition and implementation of scalable data workflows and analytical solutions.
• Participate in regular coordination activities with international and customer teams.

YOUR PROFILE:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Data Science, Computer Science or a related technical field.
• Programming skills in Python. Knowledge of data-processing and analysis libraries such as Pandas, NumPy or similar tools.
• Understanding of statistical analysis, data modelling, machine learning and artificial intelligence concepts.
• Experience with data visualization tools or libraries such as Power BI, Matplotlib, Plotly or similar tools.
• Basic knowledge of SQL and version-control tools such as Git.
• Knowledge of cloud-based data environments is considered an advantage.
• Previous experience through professional roles, academic projects or personal projects involving data engineering, analytics or data science is considered an advantage.
• Good communication, organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with international and remote teams.
• Proactive attitude and willingness to continue developing professionally.
• Good command of Spanish and English.
