Job summary

turnhq is seeking a QuickBooks Online (QBO) Specialist to tighten month‑end close, improve invoicing, AR/AP workflows, and overall QBO hygiene. You will partner with the VP of Finance to accelerate the close and ensure the books are investor‑ready.

This is a remote contractor role based in Mexico (Mexico City preferred). You’ll perform month‑end close tasks, invoicing support, and AR/AP management with a focus on accuracy and process improvements, while coordinating with US‑based leaders.

Qualifications

• Active QBO certification or equivalent proof of expertise.
• 3+ years hands-on bookkeeping/accounting in QuickBooks Online (US instance).
• Experience with month-end close for startups/SMBs; ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
• English proficiency (written/spoken) to coordinate with US-based leaders.
• Solid Excel/Google Sheets skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage month-end close in QBO including reconciliations, deferrals, journal entries, and variance checks.
• Support invoicing accuracy and resolve discrepancies with contracts/pricing.
• Oversee AR/AP management including aging reviews and vendor payments scheduling.
• Maintain QBO hygiene: COA consistency, class/location usage, attachments, rules, memos.
• Propose and implement lightweight automations in QBO/Sheets, potentially with AI tools.

We’re looking for a QuickBooks Online (QBO) Specialist to help us tighten our month‑end close, invoicing, AR/AP workflows, and ongoing QBO hygiene. You’ll partner with our VP of Finance to accelerate the close and keep our books investor‑ready.

What You'll Do

• Month‑end close in QBO: bank/AMEX reconciliations, accruals/deferrals, vendor bill review, journal entries, variance checks.
• Invoicing support: ensure invoice detail accuracy; investigate discrepancies with contracts/pricing.
• AR/AP management: aging reviews, collections follow‑ups, vendor payments scheduling, vendor data upkeep.
• QBO hygiene & cleanup: chart‑of‑accounts consistency, class/location use, attachment policies, rules, and memos.
• Process automation: propose/implement lightweight automations in QBO/Sheets; comfort collaborating with AI agents for recurring tasks.

What You'll Need

• QBO certification (active) or equivalent proof of expertise.
• 3+ years hands‑on bookkeeping/accounting in QuickBooks Online (US instance).
• Experience with month‑end close for startups/SMBs; can work independently and hit deadlines.
• English proficiency (written/spoken) to coordinate with US‑based leaders.

Nice to Have

• Familiarity with US GAAP basics for SMBs/startups; Mexico payroll/tax exposure is a plus.
• Prior work cleaning messy QBO files, redesigning COA, and documenting workflows.

Hours and Collaboration

• Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm CDMX time.

Compensation

• Competitive contractor rate (paid in MXN). Please include your expected range.
• SGMM paid at 100%.
• 100% Remote.
