The Satellite Technician II must have a vast understanding of Satellite Theory. The position is responsible for operating and maintaining Tactical Satellite(TACSAT) modems, block convertors and HPA/ TWTA's for long distance, re-transmission and secure capability. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: proper configuration and knowledge of multiple Satellite Modems, Spectrum Analyzers, FireBerd 8000, and other testing and monitoring equipment.
The Technician shall maintain the USC-60 terminal to ensure they are operational at 99% over a 24-hour period IAW DISAC and NETCOM Regulations. This will be accomplished by conducting daily, weekly and monthly inspections of the indoor and outdoor equipment. The technician will be responsible for 100% inventory of equipment in system, as well as spare equipment in stock. The Technician maintains constant communication with their military counterpart.
Provides operations and maintenance support of USC-60 tri-band systems. Supports day to day operations to include troubleshooting, outage reporting and record keeping. Coordinates with RNOSC for upgrades, modifications of software and hardware. Drafts revisions to the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to comply with requirements. Supervises, and trains the workforce while providing operational guidance to military personnel. Reports to the Site Supervisor. Program: OMDAC-SWACA

Responsibilities
- Follows work-center operating procedures.
- Follows proper key control for facility and equipment as required.
- Performs daily, weekly, and monthly PMCS accordingly.
- Maintains safety and cleanliness in the work site.
- Maintains configuration management documentation.
- Monitors the outdoor unit to make sure it is properly protected from the environment.
- Operates, maintains and repairs the USC-60 tri-band systems.
- Monitors the indoor unit.
- Conducts daily monitoring of the spectrum analyzer to make sure the Carrier is stable.
- Reports issues and outages to the NOC.
- Responsible for 100% inventory of equipment in system as well as spare equipment in stock.
- Must be able to work rotating shift schedules which provide 24 hours per day/7 days per week coverage.
- Working environment will be 80% inside of the office and approximately 20% outside of the office.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.

- Requires an active active Secret Clearance
- Education / Certifications: One-year related experience may be substituted for one year of education if degree is required.
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Some college preferable.
- SATCOM Maintenance courses preferred.
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) (Training provided by contract)
- Experience:
- Requires a minimum of 3-5 years’ operating experience in a Satellite Earth Station within the last 6 years.
- Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
