Seqwater in Australia seeks a senior leader to manage water quality risk across the catchment-to-tap supply, ensuring regulatory compliance and protecting public health across South East Queensland.

You will develop and continuously improve water quality management systems, provide expert scientific guidance to operations and regulators, and stay ahead of evolving legislation.

This full‑time, permanent role offers a competitive salary range of $149,648–$162,324 plus 12.75% superannuation.

Competenze

• Tertiary qualifications in Chemical Science, Microbiology, Engineering or related discipline.
• Significant experience in water or food quality risk management.
• Strong knowledge of Australian and Queensland water quality guidelines and regulatory requirements.
• Experience developing and improving HACCP, ISO 22000, ISO 9001 or equivalent.
• Proven ability to advise senior leaders and stakeholders.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills.

About your opportunity

This role leads Seqwater’s water quality risk management framework across the catchment-to-tap water supply system, ensuring regulatory compliance, managing water quality risks and protecting public health across South East Queensland. Through expert scientific leadership and strategic advice, the role influences organisational decision‑making and supports effective water quality outcomes across Seqwater’s operations and external regulatory environment.

This role is responsible for:

• Develop and continuously improve Seqwater's water quality management systems across the catchment-to-tap water supply system, including water quality risk assessments and associated reporting.


• Ensure regulatory approval and ongoing compliance of drinking water quality management and recycled water management plans.


• Provide expert advice to Operations on the implementation of water quality risk management systems across Seqwater's water supply assets and sites.


• Provide authoritative advice on drinking water quality legislation and broader water quality risk management requirements.


• Analyse emerging regulatory trends and incorporate relevant requirements into Seqwater's water quality management systems.


• Contribute to the development and implementation of Seqwater's water quality strategy.


• Support Operations in implementing and continually improving water quality management systems and risk controls.


• Represent Seqwater in regional and national water quality collaborations and initiatives.


• Build trusted relationships with regulators, government departments and industry groups.


• Ensure learnings from water quality incidents are embedded into water quality management systems, risk assessments and operational practices.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

• Tertiary qualifications in Chemical Science, Microbiological Science, Engineering or a related discipline.


• Significant experience in water quality or food quality, with a focus on managing risks to protect public health.


• Strong knowledge of Australian and Queensland water quality guidelines, legislation and regulatory requirements.


• Demonstrated experience developing and improving quality and risk management systems, including HACCP, ISO 22000, ISO 9001 or equivalent.


• Proven ability to provide high‑level scientific and technical advice to senior leaders, regulators and diverse stakeholders.


• Strong communication, consultation and negotiation skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships and translate complex information into practical advice.

This position has a competitive salary range of $149,648 - $162,324, plus 12.75% superannuation and is full‑time, permanent.
