Seqwater is embarking on a growth phase and seeks a Principal Asset Protection leader to safeguard our water infrastructure. You will guide strategic advice on development and land-use matters and manage third-party works impacting assets.

You will collaborate with councils and state bodies to balance community growth with asset protection, while delivering safe, efficient outcomes aligned to Seqwater priorities.

Competenze

• Degree in Engineering (civil or related field).
• RPEQ accreditation or eligibility.
• 15+ years in design, construction, maintenance or operation of water assets.
• Experience managing third-party impacts on utility assets.
• Strong knowledge of planning legislation and DA assessment processes.
• Demonstrated leadership and stakeholder engagement skills.

About Your Opportunity

In the Principal Asset Protection role, you will lead a team responsible for protecting Seqwater’s natural and built assets by providing strategic advice on development and land use planning matters and management of 3rd party works that may impact our assets. Working closely with councils, state development bodies and key stakeholders, you will influence development outcomes that balance community growth with the protection of critical water infrastructure and catchment assets, while delivering safe, efficient and high-quality outcomes aligned to organisational priorities.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the assessment and response to development applications impacting Seqwater’s state interests, ensuring timely, consistent and defensible outcomes.
• Oversee the management of third-party works affecting Seqwater assets, including assessment, conditions and risk-based supervision.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with councils, state development bodies and other key stakeholders.
• Lead and develop a high-performing team through coaching, mentoring, performance management and capability building.
• Drive business performance by translating strategy into operational delivery and contributing to organisational objectives and transformation initiatives.
• Ensure effective risk management, governance and regulatory compliance while delivering services in a prudent and efficient manner.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will possess

• Degree qualification in Engineering in a relevant discipline.
• RPEQ in a relevant field (e.g. civil)
• Extensive experience (15+ years) in the design, construction, maintenance or operation of water infrastructure assets.
• Proven experience managing and mitigating third-party impacts on built utility assets.
• Strong knowledge of planning legislation and development application assessment processes.
• Demonstrated leadership, stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to influence outcomes and lead multidisciplinary teams.

This position will be offered on a permanent full-time basis with a competitive salary, plus 12.75% superannuation.
