Job summary

ABB is seeking an Environmental, Health and Safety Specialist to support sustainability initiatives at its Italian sites in Frosinone and Ferentino. The role focuses on regulatory compliance, waste management, and improving environmental performance.

You will work onsite, coordinating with regulators, lab partners, and the HSE team. The ideal candidate has a background in environmental engineering or sciences with 1–2 years of experience, strong Italian regulatory knowledge, and English

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Chemistry, or related technical field.
• 1–2 years of professional environmental experience in manufacturing, industry, or consulting in Italy.
• In-depth knowledge of Italian environmental legislation, specifically Legislative Decree no. 152/2006.

Responsibilities

• Ensure operations comply with Italian environmental laws and permits.
• Oversee waste management and coordination of permits with Facility Management.
• Support ISO 14001 & ISO 50001 audits, corrective actions, and system improvements.

You will also showcase your expertise by providing feedback to the management and employees on lessons learned and best practices from within your own unit and across ABB.The work model for the role is: onsiteThis role is contributing to the Operations HSE Management in both Frosinone & Ferentino ABB Sites. Main stakeholders are operational employees, managers and HSE team; externally from analytical laboratories and consultants to regulatory authoritiesYou will be mainly accountable for:Regulatory Compliance: Ensure company operations comply with Italian environmental laws, primarily the Legislative Decree 152/2006 and regional regulations.Permitting & Authorizations: Manage and coordinate, in collaboration with the Facility Management, key environmental permits, including AUA and water discharge management (Title IV).Waste Management: Oversee hazardous and non-hazardous waste management ensuring, with the collaboration of the Facility Management, proper classification, labeling, temporary storage, and tracking through the national systems (RENTRI / registers).ISO 14001 & ISO 50001: Conduct internal compliance audits, identify operational gaps, and implement corrective action plans.
