Job summary

Meliá Hotels International in Milano is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to support the Head Chef and ensure high quality food service, across breakfast, lunch and dinner, while maintaining cleanliness and efficiency in the kitchen.

You will help with dish preparation, presentation, and stock checks; a culinary diploma and 1–2 years of experience are preferred, with fluency in Italian and good English. This full‑time role offers growth within a global hospitality group.

Qualifications

• Culinary diploma or equivalent training in Gastronomy or Hospitality.
• 1–2 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in 4* or 5* hotels.
• Knowledge of food hygiene and kitchen safety practices.
• Passion for cooking, willingness to learn, and a proactive mindset.
• Team player with good communication and organisational skills.
• Fluency in the local language and good level of English.

Responsibilities

• Supporting the Head Chef in daily kitchen operations, maintaining consistency in food quality, hygiene and presentation.
• Assisting in the preparation and execution of dishes across breakfast, à la carte, banquets, and room service.
• Helping to ensure compliance with food safety regulations (HACCP) and company sustainability practices.
• Participating in menu planning, stock checks, and daily briefings.
• Collaborating with the team to ensure smooth coordination between kitchen and service staff.
• Taking part in the organisation of mise en place and learning how to manage orders and inventory under the guidance of senior chefs.
• Actively contributing to a clean, safe, and efficient working environment.
