Alpitronic in Bolzano seeks a Senior Embedded Firmware Developer to design, implement, and maintain embedded firmware for MCU‑based sensing and control in e‑mobility projects. You will shape firmware architectures and ensure robust hardware‑software integration across the development lifecycle.

You will work in a cross‑functional team, develop low‑level drivers for MCU peripherals (CAN, I2C, SPI), perform testing and debugging, and contribute to safety‑oriented documentation in line with IEC

• Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Several years of embedded firmware development on ARM-based MCUs.
• Strong C and C++ skills with knowledge of VHDL.

As a Senior Embedded Firmware Developer you will be responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of embedded firmware for microcontroller-based applications supporting sensing and control functions in cutting-edge e-mobility solutions. You will contribute to the definition of firmware architectures, ensure reliable hardware-software integration, and support the development of safety-oriented products.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design, develop, and maintain embedded firmware for microcontroller and programmable logic applications, primarily in C
• Define firmware architectures and support board commissioning activities for new hardware platforms
• Develop low-level drivers and firmware modules for MCU peripherals, including ADCs, GPIOs, Timers, and communication interfaces such as CAN, I2C, and SPI
• Develop, integrate, and maintain system and application software
• Ensure robust hardware-software integration throughout the entire development lifecycle
• Perform software testing, debugging, and validation in both target and test environments
• Contribute to functional safety-related activities, including architecture and design documentation, code reviews, and test specification definition
• Ensure compliance with relevant industry norms and standards, supporting upcoming functional safety applications
• Troubleshoot field issues and conduct root-cause analyses to ensure product reliability
• Collaborate closely with developers, project managers, and other internal stakeholders to ensure successful project execution

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

• Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
• Several years of professional experience in embedded software development on ARM-based microcontrollers
• Excellent knowledge of C and C++, with good knowledge of VHDL
• Solid experience with MCU peripherals such as ADCs, GPIOs, Timers, and communication protocols including CAN, I2C, and SPI
• Experience with on-chip debugging and tracing toolsKnowledge of functional safety standards such as IEC 61508, ISO 13849, or similar is considered an advantage
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skillsIndependent, structured, and solution-oriented working style
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Fluent in English; as well as in German and/or Italian

• Total compensation starting from € 74,000 gross per year, including a 30% variable bonus based on goal achievement
