Mercor is seeking a native Japanese annotator to join our team in Milan. You will identify and bound meaningful regions on Japanese documents, maintain reading order, and produce precise transcriptions.

The role requires strict character-level accuracy and experience with complex layouts, including vertical text and multi-column formats. Candidates should demonstrate systematic work habits and careful attention to detail.

Competenze

• Native Japanese speaker with full kanji, hiragana and katakana knowledge.
• Experience in interpretation, transcription, translation or editorial work.
• Character-level accuracy is critical in this role.
• Systematic and consistent taxonomy across many pages.

Mansioni

• Open and check a task, confirm page is Japanese and legible with no personal data.
• Annotate structure: bound regions, assign type and reading order.
• Record relationships: link regions to parent figures/tables.
• Transcribe faithfully: reproduce all text in Japanese script.
• Capture page metadata: language, document type, source, dimensions, and flags.
• Review a colleague's work with a second expert.
