Job summary

Satispay is seeking a Lead Backend Engineer for the Consumer Growth team in Milan. You will shape technical direction, own backend services, and drive architecture decisions across microservices and cloud infrastructure.

You will design and implement payment flows, identity, loyalty, and engagement services, mentor engineers, and collaborate with multiple teams to deliver scalable solutions in a fast-paced FinTech environment. English fluency is required.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of backend software engineering experience in microservices and cloud environments.
• Deep experience with Java and Spring Boot.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems and how to manage external dependencies (like banking protocols).
• Excellent written and spoken English; cross-team collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Build and ship services powering the Satispay consumer experience, from payment flows to loyalty features.
• Lead design discussions and produce documentation for cross-team alignment.
• Foster engineering excellence with rigorous testing, safe rollouts, and debt reduction in a fast-moving codebase.
• Mentor and guide junior and mid-level engineers in cross-service patterns and operational excellence.
